Life

Today I had a chance to visit the new SAJC in Potong Pasir. Chan from camp invited me to the SAJC Life concert and I gladly accepted his invitation. In short, the experience was nothing less than WOW!

Finding Julia was hard because she didn't bring her handphone. But she kind of stood out like a sore thumb in her TJC uniform. No offence here. With her was Yilin. The 3 of us managed to jump queue and got a seat in the spanking new Cultural Centre. The concert started 45 mins late as there were hundreds of students trying to enter through the few doors which were open. But when it started, it was the beginning of a great experience. There was a single dance item which was done rather well followed by the concert proper with a 12-piece band playing Christian rock. And they did rock the house. In between some of the songs were testimonials from several people including a former druggie-turned-Christian worker from COR. The songs were great and left people jumping up and down to tunes like Always and Forever, Majesty and History Maker. The crowd was so high that even as the concert wrapped up, they were still chanting "encore!" The band obliged by playing reprises of History Maker and Always and Forever. But what would a concert be without One Day? They did that number as well.

Truthfully, I have never felt so high and "on fire" since the last Life concert which I attended in 2003. Come to think about it, I've never been so "on" about church and God since leaving JC. Maybe it was because of the Christian envirnoment or SFC. Or maybe it is because of NS. I don't know the answer. But after today's concert, I have decided to rededicate my life to the Lord. May He see me as faithful and use me as His will dictates.

The trip back also stirred up some memories of life in school. Nothing much has changed. I'm not referring to the building or the students. I'm referring to the aura and the personalities of the students. Just standing amongst the students made me recollect the best days of my life in SAJC. I don't know how to explain it. You'll have to go down and feel it yourself. It's a very strong feeling I can assure you.

The building and location may be new but they will age with time. But, as I have said before, the memories and friendships will last a lifetime. To those who are still studying, treasure every moment of your life as a student and don't let it pass by just like that. Nite!
