today is the first day i went back to changi in like 4 weeks... and guess what they gave me? a half-day off... hah... got let off at 1230 and went straight home... been sleeping ever since... just got up not too long ago... recuperation... that's what i need...

hungry... where's my mum with dinner??? baah...

gaah... pissed at IE... too many ads getting through my ad-blocking software... luckily there's netscape... the first time i viewed the internet was with netscape... that was donley years ago when i was still in p6... did some kind of pilot project with the scouts in my school... to me, it was a high feeling when i touched the macs they had... come on, that was the time when 486 and p1 were the fastest around and games like duke nukem were the best... stupid ie...

argh... sajc fun fair on 19th... dunno whether i wanna go... dunno where to get tickets... dunno anything lar...

i wanna go aus... monash of rmit... hopefully monash... but i've gotta do 1 yr foundation... so that means a total of 5 yrs spent down under... i'll be old by then... gaah... but i don't mind... at least i get to do what i like to do there... hah... melbourne... just dreaming of you...

the blues... that's what all the premiership teams are seeing... they're probably seeing their smoke only but hey... 10 pts clear of the next competition, arsenal, roman abramovic's blue army look unstoppable at the top... but i don't think their 4-title dreams will be achieved... the domestic cups won't be a problem but the champions league will certainly prove to be a challenge for them...

signing off now... hopefully bench did what he was suposed to...

I Dream - Taufik Batisah

In my mind
I can climb
All the mountains that surround me
My spirits there, where eagles dare to fly

In my heart
There's a spark
That can light the world around me
An open door, where I am sure dreams are

It doesn t matter if I win
Or the colour of my skin
Cause the race is all about
Believing in yourself

Chorus 1:
And I dream
I can run
Like the wind
And be strong
When my heart just wants to give in
I dream
I can be
The hero that's in me
When I dream, I dream

If there's a time
In your life
When the odds are so against you
There's no defeat, if all you keep is pride
First or last
Slow or fast
There s a dignity that makes you
Keep driving on, when worlds have come apart

It doesn't matter rich or poor
Or the things you've done before
Cause the race is all about
Believing in yourself

Chorus 2:
And I dream
I can run
Like the wind
And be strong
When my heart just wants to give in
I dream
I can be
The hero that's in me
When I dream, I dream

I dream
Of a moment
That forever will be golden
When the torch is passed
Only dreams will last
That are shared by everyone

And I dream
I can run
Like the wind
And be strong
When my heart just wants to give in
I dream
I can be
The hero that's in me
When I dream, I dream

placed here due to request by bench...
sunday again... so it was back to church as usual... was supposed to go for 9am service but the alarm clock on my phone failed to ring... baah... got up at 8 and got to church at 930... went straight to lighthouse room to find the band practicing for michael's worship... kinda got into the action by playing the bass guitar for the prac... then at 11, i went for YAF...

YAF was super boring today... had some sort of worship thing before having the bible forum... it was more like a talk kinda thing cos only one guy was talking... i thought forums involved people asking questions and a person answers them? the worst thing was that the topic covered was boring... at least that was what it seemed to me... bleah... 2 thumbs down to today's YAF...

somehow i managed to bring myself to join the YAF ppl for lunch... then it was back to church again to help the PLH ppl sort out and compile chords... personally i found it a chore cos of the way it was done... the worship ppl have like until the end of feb to do it but gwen was like rush, rush, rush... dunno what's wrong... then shaun shows up at only 3 and late... bleah... dunno what's gg on...

so at abt then jase, javan, gem and i let to go for claire's b'day party at suntec... at first we were hesitant cos the only ppl there at that time were girls from her school... for 3 guys to go it would be suicide, surrounded by squeal-prone girls... but it turned out to be ok in the end... the 4 of us quiclky whisked ourselves to a corner of the bar at NUSS the guild house in suntec upon our arrival... from our seats, we watched a korean movie called 'my bride' while chomping on chicken wings... initiall we thought the show would be some standard cheesy korean flick but it turned out alright... would't mind watching again some time in the future... by the end of the show, the 3 of had wolfed down almost 100 mid-joints and half a dozen jugs of drinks between us... wah... very filling... we had some games after that and caught the aus open tennis finals between hewitt and safin... baah... hewitt lost... but it was a good fight...

i found 2 girls at the party pretty ok... one was a dancer called valerie cher (pronounced as share)... the other was the tennis girl... kinda forgot her name... at least she wasn't shy to talk to us abt tennis... so not as dao as the rest... heh... the uncools... that was what we were...

left at 7 and took 106 with the rest to dhoby where i got a cab home...

u know, everybody wants us to progress in church... move from PLH to YAF... but i dont see much that would interest me... when tommy talked to me aby YAF before watchnight last year, he told me about the great things there and asked me if i wanted to know more abt the bible's secrets and stuff... from there he introed the bible forum... and from today's one, i'm having doubts if i can learn much from this bunch of ppl... liaoz... they tell me that the programme was catered to ppl in my age group... but i dun see them put much effort in getting us involved... there's no service ministry to help out in unlike PLH where we had the band, resource and stuff... maybe it's just me cos i dun feel comfortable when i'm not involved... bleah... and pls dun get anybody to come talk to me and give me counsilling cos that's not what i want of what i need... i need to serve... i want to serve... and serve i will...

aiyah... screw the no of days left... i cant be bothered to keep track anymore... bleah =P

Today is the day when I had my first sleep-in in 2 weeks.

Got up at 10 today and stoned till 1+ when i left toe house to go to Nakamoto's to get my new F-16B done up. I stayed there until 5 when Bench finally finished his task in church and joined me. We then headed to PS and Taka for some shopping. It was actually he who was shopping 'cos I didn't bring my shopping cash. He bought a pair of jeans and a shirt. After that, he went to his grandma's place for dinner while I went to Geylang Lor 9 to meet my mum for beef hor fun. Dinner was great and we went home after that. Been blogging since.

Over the past 2 days, I've met a couple of people on the streets which I haven't seen in quite a while. Here's a list:

- Shahin, at Orchard MRT station. JC classmate and soccer buddy.
- Wai Wai, at Orchard MRT station. JC classmate.
- Janetta, at Orchard MRT station. JC friend.
- Gazel, at Orchard MRT station. JC friend.
- Fiona, at Orchard MRT station. JC friend and GP group mate.
- Daryl and family, at Plaza Singapura. Ex-neighbour.
- Zhe Guang, at Plaza Singapura. JC friend.
- Lauren, at Wisma Atria. JC councillor.

Hope to see more tomorrow.

I was actually supposed to go book BBQ pits at East Coast today for my family gathering but that got cancelled. I think we're going for seafood or something next week. I guess I'll leave that to the adults.

20 more days to go. Just do it...

Back-dated Blogging...

27 January 2005

Today was the day where I was extremely unlucky.

Due to alarm flailure, I got up late and so I had to rush to get myself ready to go to camp in record time. But I don't know what the SAF was thinking when they designed the No. 4(green cammo) uniform. It takes a hell lot of time to get on properly and the boots are hell to lace. It was then when I realised that one of the garters which I use to roll up my pant legs was missing. I must have dumped it somewhere the day before and forgot where I left it. But since I was in a rush, I didn't take the time to go search for the garter. Instead, I used a rubber band in its place.

So I left the house 5 minutes later than usual. But I still missed the usual LRT that I take everyday. That proved to be costly. By missing that one train, I missed the usual 965 from Sengkang and eventually missed 2 171s from Yishun. I was like, damn. So I got to camp at 7.20 which meant that there was no time for the usual breakfast and I had to rush for training.

Then it struck me. During my rush back at home, I forgot to dump in my T-shirt so I ended up doing all the training in my No. 4 which does not have climate control. I'm not saying that the T-shirt has this feature, but the No. 4 traps heat like a sweater. And perspire I did. And I did so for most of the afternoon when the sun was at its hottest.

Feeling all sticky and yucky, I took a cab home from Mandai.

22 more days... and counting...

28 January 2005

Today was the test day.

Reported to Mandai as usual. This time, I managed to get on the right buses at the right times to ensure that I arrived with ample time fro breakfast. Did some warm-up training in the morning before lunch.

Shortly after lunch, the tester came and we all were getting anxious. With a half-day off incentive, all of us were determined to pass. And the test began. One by one the trainees got into the forklift and showed their stuff. I was seventh in the nominal roll so I had to patiently wait my turn. We killed time by talking about luohan and dragon fish rearing. It's pretty interesting to hear about the amounts of money and time people actually put in to rear the fish. So we talked until it was my turn. I finished it in about 16 minutes which is just about average and passed the test.

I left at around 4.30 and sped home in a Mercedes taxi. Once home, I quickly showered and changed, leaving the house at 5.30 to go meet Jason and Andrea at Orchard MRT station. The 3 of us then proceeded down to NYDC Heeren for dinner. Had an excellent Romeo & Juliet baked rice like Jason while Andrea had some kind of baked pasta. The last ime I met Andrea was during my 'A' level prelims 2 years ago. I bumped into her on the overhead bridge at Harbourfront Centre while on my way home from maths consultation. She has been in Australia the whole of last year and returned home for a short visit. Come to think about it, among all my church friends, I've known her the longest. I still remember the times when we were the only 2 kids of the same age in the nursery group. She was the 'dao' one while I was the friendly one. But that was as long time ago. And things have changed. But some things just never change like her looks and her hair but especially her voice and the was she talks. Still the same as before without the hint of an Aussie accent. That's good for her 'cos i can't stand people with bizzare accents.

We went over the the MacDonald's at Centrepoint after dinner for some cheap ice-cream. After a short while, the Pink Orca finally arrived from work in Yio Chu Kang. So the 4 of us sat there enjoying ice-cream and talked about the things that were going on in our lives. Then from out of nowhere, Tommy, Jophia, Ben and Jane popped out and joined us. They had some meeting earlier but we did not expect to see them around. At around 10.40, the whole group of us left. The east-siders, namely Jane, Orca and myself, walked down to Lido to catch a 132 to Jane's place. On the way there, Orca started behaving rather strangly, singing for no reason and talking is some funny Indian accent. Jane and I looked at each other and agreed: Orca was in need of sleep. I have no clue why she pushes herself so hard to work. She starts at 9 in the morning and ends at 8.30 and she does not get a salary because she's working for her aunt. To me, it's pure stupidity but to her, it's something else.

So we tooke the 132 and went to Jane's where they stayed to wait for Orca's mum and I left, taking 62 home. Now I'm exhausted again and I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to book the barbecue pits for next week. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow. Hope that I can get some one to follow me to East Coast.

21 more days... 3 weeks. is all that's left?

Why women are evil...

since women take up time and money, therefore:

woman = money x time

and since time = money

woman = (money)²

and since money is the root of all evil => evil = √(money)²

therefore,

woman = evil

Note: This is not my work... I apologise for any in accuracies... but it was fun...
my internet explorer is getting screwy... pop-ups keep popping up even with the pop-up blocker on and its super slow... it lags while loading a page and eats a lot of memory... damn it lar... so now i'm switching to netscape till i can find a cure for this problem... bleah...

updated with 3 more pics...

tiring... that basically sums up all of today's activities...

went to NP open hse at 10 in the morning... bench, his friend and i jalan-jalan-ed in the campus picking up freebies and good deals... heh... i kinda faked a lecturer and told him that i was testing pre-u for 1st 3 mths and was thinking of gg to NP in the future... well, at least it shows that i ain't that old...

we hung around until zara ended her flyer-distribution shift and then went off to meet jason and javan at queensway for some shopping thing... spent the time walking the corridor of queensway shopping centre looking at clothes, bags and caps... in the end only zara and jason bought stuff... after that we headed to anchorpoint KFC for lunch... jason soon split from the rest of us, having "important business" to attend to... walked around the place till 330 before the rest split too...

at that point, i didnt feel like going home yet so i called the pink one and found out that she was in town... so i went to meet her at ck tangs... the tiger cup presentation ceremony at taka was on at that time so we strolled over there to check out what was going on... after some cool performances and songs by the in-house band, the players arrived... there was cheering but not as good as the kallang roar on sunday... but anyway, the PM received the trophy from skipper Aide Iskandar following a couple more performances and a speech by prof ho...

then the 2 of us had some drinks in the food court at taka before going to the singtel shop opposite mandarin... at first she wanted the N6170 but after seeing the mitsubishi phone-camera, she fell in love with it almost instantly... well, who wouldn't? 200k+ colour interior and exterior LCD, 2 megapix camera, cool layout... what's there more to ask?

she had to go to tampines for dinner at her grandma's so we took the MRT there... she was already very late for the dinner but still wanted to go check out more phones in TM and CS... basket... women and punctuality kinda don't mix huh? she finally went off at abt 730... that's 1 1/2 hr later than the time she was supposed to at her grandma's... bleah...

what a day... exhausted again...then, there's bball tml... how will i survive?

27 more days... let's get it right this time...

Here's a little project i'm working on using photoshop... Comments please?

tired... thirsty... tanned(sort of lar)... that was today...

woke at 6+ and went to meet chau, zif, khail, dingo, tiger, kim seng and jon david(roy keane) in school for soccer... never played at the home ground since j2... heh... the place surely does bring back memories... at 915 the bell rang and we were all going, "eh... time for moral ed with kang..." then at 1000, "better go for econs lecture... mr chu hates late-comers..." heh... we even remembered the time-table... started playing at 930 and left at 1045 even though they were still playing...

reached harbourfront at 1110 and met up with the plh ppl... then, it was off to singapore's island resort, sentosa... jase, germ and jon rode their bikes while tommy, john, dan, jane, pink orca, ryan, bench, princess, david and i took the sentosa shuttle from the terminal... the bus was packed with beach-goers heading to siloso, palawan and tanjong beaches to enjoy the rays during the hari raya holiday... we went to tanjong beach even though it's far but it wasn't as crowded as the other beaches...

started with worship session followed by bs for the yaffers.. IMHO, this completely killed off the beach-going mood for most of us... thankfully tommy let those who didn't want the bs to go off and do their stuff... don't ask me why... but i'm thankful... we brought a basket-ball there but no soccer ball... bleah... wanted to play beach soccer... so we settled for captain's ball... but after a morning of soccer in school, i kinda died out early... if you play the CM/FM series of football manager games, i was severely LMP... at game's end, tommy and the pink orca left and the rest went to cool off in the water... wth? some ppl actually came without preparing for a beach outing eg. not bringing towel and extra change... bleah... waded around till dinner time when we all got back off the island to harbourfront centre for macs...

harbourfront centre... a place that brings back memories too... had to pass through it when i was going to school in the past and visited it when the class had "outings" and stuff... i still remember it 2 yrs ago but now much has changed... the new extention is open and busy with customers... the taxi stand shifted to the front from the side... haiz... the days of yesteryear... will be remembering them...

i should be going out with the guys again tomorrow... NP open house first then shopping... wonder how it'll go...

28 more days to go... just keep counting and hoping...
445 days to ORD... just keep waiting... the free-world is calling...

Thursday, January 20, 2005

29 more days for me to prove my worth... chau, i know you'll be watching...
this has been the most boring day of my life... on off so i didn't go to work... urgh.... been doing almost nothing since i woke up... still feeling bored... help!!! bleah... looking fwd to tomorrow though.... oh wells... why did germain have to screw things up??? bleah...nitez~!

Sunday, January 16, 2005

it's been one hell of a day... first to church in the morning... then spending the afternoon shopping for packet drinks and playing cards... but it was all good time spent... preparation for the tiger cup final in the evening...

so there we went, jason, bench, david and myself, to the singapore national stadium to catch the big match... reached at around 4+ but had to wait for the gates to open at around 5... after getting in, we hunted for the best seats we could find... managed to get the 1st row seats near the corner flag in the east gallery... from there, we were one of the closests to the action.... from then till the kick-off, we were busy "chope-ing" seats for the rest of the people coming... it was just so easy... just leave a bag of rubbish at the target seat and people will keep away from it... heh... a little dirt and people just flee... haha.... played cards too... luckily the police didn't bother us...

an hour from kick off, the singapore team arrived at the stadium to the cheers of the home fans... the indonesian team on the other hand, had the loudest 'boos' i've ever heard thrown at them from the 55,000-strong crowd... i could just see some of the indo players looking into the crowd to try to spot the one who was taunting them... but to no avail... the palyers returned to the dressing rooms shortly after...

at 720, the players once again took to the pitch... this time in their national coulors for the singing of the anthems and the kick-off... so at 735, the saudi arabian referee blew the whistle to start the match... from then until the break, this was all i heard... ... "AGU!!! GET THE BALL, AGU!!!..." "INDRA, SHOOT!!!! GOOOAALLLLL!!!!!" "OLE, OLE, OLE, OLE... OLE, OLE!!!" "WAH LAO!!! YOU CALL THAT FAIR PLAY???!!!" "BASKET. STOP ACTING LAR!!! GET UP YOU SISSY!!!" "YELLOW CARD? YEAH... YOU DESERVE IT MAN!!!" "REF!!! PENALTY!!! YEAH!!!!" "GO, AGU, GO!!!! GOOOOAAAAAALLLL!!!" "HALF-TIME!!!" ...

2 - 0... that was the score at half-time... one scorcher from indra shadan in the 5th minute and a penalty goal from Agu Casmir near the break... 15 mins later, the action started again...

"DICKY!!! TURN HIM INSIDE OUT!!! CROSS!!! GOOD TRY...." "EH... BENNETT CLEAR THE BALL!!!!" "WAH LAO!!! REFEREE KAYU!!!!" "WHAT THE HELL!!?? DIVING LAR!!! CARD HIM!!!" "INDO SCORED??? OEI..." "OEI, (SUBRA)MANI!!! YOU GOT MANI BACK GUARANTEE???!!!" "ALAMAK REF!!! YOU KAYU!!!" "REFEREE KAYU!!! REFEREE KAYU!!!" "THAT'S THE WAY, LIONEL!!!" "WOO-HOO!!! WE WIN!!!!"

and that was it... after almost 8 yellow cards and a red card, numerous shots-on-goal, a kayu referee and countless cheers and jeers, singapore had won... 2 - 1, 5 - 2 on aggregate.... after 7 years, the Tiger Cup was back with Singapore... along with the US$100,000 cash... lionel lewis took home the MVP trophy and deservingly so... he was superb throughout the whole tournament... during the prize persentation, the indo fans started evacuating the stadium to the song from the singapore fans: "NA-NA-NA-NA... NA-NA-NA-NA... HEY-HEY-EY... GOOD-BYE!!!" heh... i guess they deserve it... so much for the "Welcome to hell" banner they gave the lions at the Senayan stadium in Jakarta...

ah... the place brings back many memories... Kallang Wave... Kallang Roar... fooh... for once, united, pool, blues and gunners supporters all gathered to support a common team... and i guess the lions really appreciated it...

this has been one of the worst weekends ever...

friday (new year's eve):
went to yishun safra for unit anniversary... played CS for my department and won... there was a lunch after that... then it hit... received a call from the dog telling me and 2 other ppl to return to camp for emergency loading of an LST which was rumoured to be heading for a disaster area... reported back to camp as instructed and carried out the op... was supposed to catch meet the fockers with jase and the gang... but that never happened... what was supposed to be a half day turned out to be a shitty full day with a siong detail... and i dont know if i'll get my half-day off...

saturday (new year's day):
was with church ppl the whole day during the worship retreat... not bad at all... spent the whole afternoon running all over orchard in the amazing (g)race... bad part was the 24-hr recall possibility stuck in my head...

sunday (yesterday):
in church for service and yaf... set lunch was fun but i really couldnt stomach my "bachang" popiah... haiz... played pool and went to pick up my f-15 from nakamoto's...

monday (today):
was on my day off... then tai wee called... RECALL!!! i was like," wtf???" but no choice... gotta go anyway... reached camp just in time for lunch... moved off to load rss persistence at 1230 cos it was going to india(rumoured)... loaded 30 oil drums and rhibs... the forklift team loaded food items and other stores into the ship... worst thing was that i was supposed to watch meet the fockers AGAIN today... instead, i spent my weekend off in camp doing loading... bleah...

BUT.... luckily i'm going off for crane course tomorrow so i dont need to stay in tonight in camp... haha... and no dog for 2 weeks... i hope... stupid boss wants me to call him when i reach the course location and when i leave... bleaddy hell...

ok... i gotta go get some sleep... nitez~!

haiz.... 2 parties at candice's 2 weeks in a row... first for xmas then for new year/worship retreat... heh... tiring week... sheesh... recalled back to camp on new year's eve... worked till 530 before going for watchnight... tired...

i just wanna jio u but i dun have the guts to... damn... i'm just afraid of the consequences if i do so... so how can we take our friendship to the next level? i really don't know... i'm just so scared to do anything... i regreted losing a few friends this way... so how can i put my message across without damage? how can i?
