There really ARE good military personnel out there...
ok... this happened on monday... it was 5.45pm and the boss released our pathetic little souls from the evil gates of Changi LTB... as the last bus left at 5.50, all of us were rushing to get changed and scoot out of the place to catch the last ride out... while everyone else scrambled to get their barang barang (stuff in malay... i think...) together and get out, i waited for my friend thomas to finish changing into his civvies (i had already changed)... he was trying to change at lightning speed... but it was not fast enough... just as we left the STO office, the bus pulled out of the bus stop outside and headed for tanah merah MRT station, transporting the slaves of CNB to the land of the free... this left thomas and i stranded in the unholy place for another 40 mins until the 6.30 bus came and picked up more helpless souls... however, thomas, being thick-skinned as he was, asked my boss for a lift in his car to the main gate hoping that there would be a bus to take us away... he surprisingly obliged and took us to the guardhouse... kind soul number 1...
so there we were waiting for a bus when we spotted the bus director, the person in charge of all the shuttle buses... we walked over and enquired about the time that the next bus would come... to our horror, he said that the next bus was the 6.30 one... both of us just couldn't imagine waiting that long for a bus to come... so this suddenly spurred thomas on to try to flag down a vehicle that was on its way out of the base and going towards tanah merah... he managed to flag down a car driven by a No. 4 clad CDS Master Sergeant... unfortunately, he was not going our way and we watched him depart... next came a silver mitsubishi lancer... thomas quickly flagged down the car and asked where the driver was going... i heard 'hougang'... JACKPOT!!!
i quiclkly boarded and we were on our way... it turned out that the driver was a Master Warrant Officer and was actually the CWO of the Fleet... this means he's a REALLY big big shot... won board he asked the usual questions... 'where do you stay?'... 'which unit are you from?'... 'vocation?' (surprisingly, he's never heard of us STOs)... 'regular or NSF?'... after that bout of questions, the topic finally shifted... we were now discussin about the new policies that our new PM, Lee Hsien Loong, put in place during his inaugural national day rally the previous night... the most important thing the warrant discussed with me was the the new education policy of 'teach less, learn more'... we were in agreement that children nowadays were being spoon-fed information and that most of what they learn isn't really learnt but rather, memorised without knowing how or why things work in a specific way... we talked about the american system where the kids are forced to present ideas in fornt of a class staring at a very young age... he compared this to singaporean kids who would hide behind mommy should they be asked to conduct a short speech in front of an audience of peers... i guess that's true so the new policy gets my utmost approval...
by this time, i was already at the main road outside my house... i was so thankful for him that i forgot how many times i said 'thank you'... but it was really nice of him to pick up a complete stranger who's way below him in rank and send him all the way home... kind soul number 2...
so my verdict is that there ARE really kind souls in the military... even NCOs are kind... however, i still stand by the fact that most of them are real b*stards at times and they can be a reay pain in the a*s... oh wells, it's past 12... better go to bed... nitez~!... oh yah... look out for a new style that my blog is going to adopt real soon... so stay tuned and leave a mark!

Whoever wins, We lose...
Whoever wins, We lose...
ok... as u probably have guessed by now, i went to catch alien vs predator (AVP) today... finished work at 5 and went to meet jase, bench and shaun lee at cineleisure for the flick... jason somehow managed to get tix for the sneaks just a day before the official opening... and they weren't crappy front row seats like what i've been getting the past 3 times i was at a movie... the show started on time at 740 and the ride was on...
it starts when some rich guy's satellite picks up strange heat signatures from some remote part of anarctica... he discovers that there is some sort of pyramid-shaped, temple-like structure buried under the ice... so he sends a team down to investigate... at the entry site, they discover that a massive hole had already been 'dug' all the way to the temple's entrance 2,000m below the surface... they took this route in, not realising who 'dug' the hole... the team reaches the temple in one piece... but when they enter, things start getting hairy... the ppl outside get attacked by 3 predators and the alien queen mother starts giving birth... as u can guess, the aliens use a few of the humans to populate the temple... the survivors then find some sort of predator weapons in a sarcophagus... then, as the title suggests, all hell breaks loose when alien takes on predator... losses were incurred on all 3 sides but it creates a distraction to allow the humans time to regroup... one by one, the humans get picked off by predator and alien... but ultimately, the 2 were fighting each other... but the cool part comes when the heroine of the movie kills an alien which attacked predator... the predator spares her and uses spare parts of the dead alien to make a shield and spear for the girl... so now it's human and predator vs alien... the 2 find the nest and blew it up with the predator's nuclear weapon while making a very quick exit to the surface... unknowingly, the queen mother escapes too and attacks the duo... as to who wins the last battle, watch the show to find out yourself cos i dun wanna spoil everything...
but the coolest part of the show is the way the story writer took 2 alien species and connected them together... predator came to earth and met up with inca people... these people worshipped them as gods cos the predators taught them how to build and be prosperous... in return, the predators ask for humans to be sacrificed and made to produce aliens... these aliens were the predators prey in a game of the hunter vs the hunted... eventually, predator loses the settlement to aliens and destroy most of it using their wrist- nuclear bomb... they destroy almost everything except for this temple and use it as their giant laser-quest gallery once every 100 years...
the show ended at 945... and we went to the arcade to shoot time crisis and play the table hockey thingy... after we split, i hopped over to phoenix hotel to catch a cab home... one taxi pulled up into the driveway with passengers on board... so i waited for them to alight before boarding... the first guy looked pretty ok... as for the other 2, it was hard to tell if they were male or female... on was wearing a pink t-shirt and bell-bottom jeans and carried a leather handbag... the other was wearing a sleeveless blouse and a super short mini skirt... he/she too was carrying a handbag... sheesh... FAGGOT ALERT!!! i got on the cab and was on my way... the taxi driver also noticed this strange sight and he too was quite surprised... heh... FAGGOT ALERT!!!
ok... that was my day... just read it and leave a mark... thanks...

HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!
HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!
over the weekend, it was pretty sporty for me once again... on saturday, we played ball in camp with the seniors cos there was absolutely no work... it was really 2 solid hours of balls kicking and it was a great work out... it was nearly as good as the good old days with S41 on the street soccer court in school... but it wasn't better....ahhh.... the good old days.... then on sunday after church, there was basketball at ngee ann... the sun was blistering hot so after just 1 hr, most of us were already punctured... it was fun tho... but i guess the previous day's intense soccer spree casued me to puncture early the next day... sheesh... then in the evening, went down to jason's place to catch the community shield match between aresnal and man u... both teams fielded "small fry" players so it was set to be interesting...
the first half saw man u pushing the ball numerous times into the aresnal box and aresnal counter-attacking at every opportunity... there were also many offsides given to the man u players as they made their runs too early... so it was even-steven at 45 mins... the second half saw all the action... in the 49th min, reyes dribbled past the last man u defender and beat howard to shoot... his shot however, could not beat the side netting... open goal... idiot... in the 50th min, reyes received a good pass in what seemed to be an offside position but the linesman's flag stayed down... by this time, 2 other aresnal players had beaten their markers and were charging at full steam towards the man u goal... without any defenders in sight, reyes calmly pushed the ball to gilberto who beat the hapless howard with ease... 1-0 to arsenal... 5 mins later, man u answered arsenal... with some briliant passing down the left flank, the ball suddenly found itself directly in front of alan smith who, with a cool volley, made his debut goal for man u spectacular, beating lehmann from just outside the box... in the 60th min, arsenal hit back once again during a defence confusion... it was reyes this time who claimed credit for the goal... then in the 78th min, another defence blunder saw ashley cole alone in the left side of the box... he tried to cross but his pass was deflected by silvestre... and the ball beat howard and landed into the united net... and so the final score stood at 3-1... but remember this fact... in the past 6 years, the winner of the community shield never lifted the premiership cup of that season...

Sports Report from Telok Kurau
alright sports fans... today was day 2 of the EP sports fellowship at AG Home in Telok Kurau... PSPC sent a total of 5 teams taking part in several events: captain's ball (boys and girls), basketball (boys and girls) and soccer (boys)... today we had 2 victories and 3 losses... not bad i must say... the boys captain's ball team pulverised the team from Covenant Presbyterian with a 20+ point goal difference... compared to yesterday, this team was a walk-over... but i think it was because of the domineering persence of the tall players like shaun, tommy, ian and uncle justin that made short work of our opponents... they barely got a shot on target and even if they did, shaun or ian would be there to ensure that the ball would never reach their captain on the chair... by half-time, we had already 14 goals compared to their 1... so in the second half, we "gave them chance" and played the lesser-experienced players like gabriel and matthias... so the final score was something like 26-6... but the win was all that counted... if we only had today's team yesterday then we wouldn't have been the ones getting trashed... the other game we won in was the girls basketball... the team made up of julia, carena, shi hui, gwen and hannah also made short work of the AG home team... to these experienced basketballers, 3 of which play for the same school team, this competition looks almost sealed... well, let's hope they keep up the good performances... today's score was 23-8... yesterday's was 20-4... no worries here... we lost the rest of the games mostly because, according to the players, their opponents were pretty rough... the soccer opponents looked like middle-aged guys who meet regularly to play... and they were rough when things got down and dirty, pushing and shoving their way through our defence... the basketball guys also faced the same problem but with the teens they played... the number of fouls they comiitted was just phenomenonal... every now and then when i turned to look at the court, an opposing player would be lectured by the ref for pushing or holding on to our player... well, so much for fair play... then there was the girls captain's ball... we were doing well in the first half and the score was pretty much even with us in a slight lead... then, the opposing team sent in their secret weapon... it was an older lady... but she was extremely good... she was "all over the court"... from what i heard, she could be at one end of the court one moment and suddenly at the other in a moment... even candice was too slow for her... we suspected that she was some pro netballer or something... then there's the question abt the age limit but we didnt ask them... in injury news, germain heng today suffered a very badly sprained ankle during the basketball match... and a girl from another church suffered a suspected arm fracture while playing basketball... this clearly shows that even in a "safe" church environment, accidents may sometimes occur... so to those atheletes out there, always take care of yourself and remember that safety comes first... this is mark signing off...
and pls leave a mark...
