Merry Christmas to One and All...

alright... christmas once again... so today started for me at 730 when i finally woke up after 3 alarm clock snoozes... i was planning to leave the house at 8 but i kinda got stuck to my computer after a while... it wasn't until 845 that i realised that i was gonna be pretty late... so off it was to church in a cab... cost me 10 bucks in the end cos of the holiday surcharge...

i arrived 15 mins past 9 and was whisked to the mph cos the sanctuary was full... the service was beamed "live" to the projector in the mph... overall it was not bad... but some parts were in need of touching up... service ended early at abt 10... so we all headed to the fellowship hall where we had christmas "snacks" and giving of presents among friends... so while we were stuck with nothing to do, a bunch of us went over to the wan ton mee place and sat there for drinks... spent an hour there while waiting for the 2nd service to finish... at 12, the group from the 2nd service hooked up with us and it was time to go LAN...

played CS at first but people kept complaining... so we switched to vietnam... but still people were complaining... MOHAA was the final option... we played a few rounds of omaha beach and then it was time to go... the rest went home while i stayed at parklane to do up my model... finished applying all the major decals so i guess it'll be finished by next week at the latest... then i can start on jason's gundam...

i pulled out of the place at 630 and took the NEL home to change due to a "lunch-time mishap"... then it was off again... but this time it was to candice's for christmas with cell... so many of the plhers were there and boy was it some party... hahah... sang carols and played this new game called "would you rather"...

followed u justin home and now it's getting really late... gotta go church tml again... so good night and have a Blessed Christmas... Joy to the World!

weekend was a blast... yesterday it was off to church in da morning to crash band prac... heh... had a good time fiddling with julian's fender strat... haha... luckily i didn't spoil it cos i dun have the cash to get a replacement... haha...

after that it was off to lunch with the toh-sters and julian at the mee goreng place at parklane... that was followed by a 15 min walk to suntec to look for my dream model... the su-27 flanker-b from academy... wah... finally got it... quite ex tho... but it's worth it... so then i lugged the huge box to nakamoto's and continued working on my eagle... touched up on the exhausts and did the burn effect thing... looks cool now with the bluish-silver engine housing... fooh... sprayed the missiles till 11 when i went home...

today was like any other sunday... woke up in the morning to go to church... reached there at nearly 10 cos i couldn't get a cab for 30 mins... worship was a blast... the way shelby did it was just awesome... heh... the enter in song was superb... must get it on mp3... tt's if i can find it... :P ... the christmas story thing was ingenious... heh... i loved the delivery... haha...

we then had a sharing by the myanmar trip ppl... looking at the photos, it was clear that the people there are living in conditions much worse than anyone can imagine... the water they bathe in and drink from is all stagnant water that is filled with green algae and duck weed... but the people aren't complaining... in fact they happily welcomed the team with open arms... from the testimonials, we found out that joy was everywhere in the faces and lives of the people they visited... just imagine that... heh... a little water shortage here would cause the most of us to go start writing complaints to the PUB or something... but there, they learn to live with their conditions and even have the time and joy to worship 100%... now that's incredible...

finally, a new leafership has arisen in the resource team so now ben and i can finally go in peace... heh... hunky body and bench will head the next generation of soundmen and women and clickers into the future... and hopefully they will become so professional that they can take over the manning of the sound system during service and maybe for musicals... it's all up to u guys now... haha...

after church it was lunch with the entire gang at paradiz... from there, the people left one by one... so in the end several of us were left... LAN time! havent played in a long time but i guess my cs skills are still there... heh...got out at 4 to go back to nakamoto's...

did up the rest of the missiles there and sprayd the marking lines on the amraams... the masking took the most time(spent almost 2 hrs masking and 2 mins painting)... kowz... "it's only plastic", someone mused... heh... kowz...

at 745, i went for dinner and then proceeded to church(again) for the coffee-house friendship thing... liaoz... was expecting a couple of PLH ppl to be there but 2 of them pang seh-ed... liaoz... nearly wanted to leave but candice came and so i stayed... heh... believers did a good job singing and the waiters did a good job of waitering... haha... poor shawn and andrew... made them run up and down so many times :P... haha... had teh tarik and the prata place soon after and then took the NEL home...

now, let me talk about a certain subject that has been brought up soooo many times before... it's called PDA... not Personal Digital Assistant(i.e Palm, HP Journada etc...) but rather Public Display of Affection... while on he train, a couple so happened to sit directly in front of me... they were young and ... well, young... so the ride starts ok... then the guy leans on the girl's shoulder... then leans further and further till his nose was almost athe the girl's mammaries... after a while of whispering, the pair started kissing... not the usual mouth-to-mouth, sustained application of suction on each other but rather the exchange of tongues in each other's mouth... it was so darned obvious cos they did not bother to conceal it... it was like sloppy licking and tasting of each other's tasted organ done right in front of dozens of commuters and without shame... gosh... i was stunned... i mean like, if u wanna do it, go do it in some remote part of singapore... home would be appropriate but if that ain't pssible, go do it in some dark corner where u can't be seen lar... sheesh... for me, the beach on a nice quiet night would be ideal... no interruptions, (hopefully) no prying eyes and best of all, the privacy...

something so personal, so private like a display of one's feelings for another should be kept that way, personal and private... if it were me, i'd feel really awkward doing it before so many pairs of eyes... haiz... kids nowadays...

ok.... i'm organising a movie outing tomorrow for all PLHers... Ocean's 12 at plaza sing tml at 715... please meet earlier cos the show starts at 715... dun really want to miss the first part yeah? ok... so those going please msg me to confirm latest by 3 tomorrow.... so far i've got 12 confirmations... ok.. see ya then...

100 Years - Five for Fighting

I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

I'm 22 for a moment
She feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

I'm 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I'm a they
A kid on the way
A family on my mind

I'm 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I'm heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy,
Time to lose yourself
Within a morning star
15 I'm all right with you
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

Half time goes by
Suddenly you’re wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on...

I'm 99 for a moment
Dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

15 there's still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you’re on your way
Every day's a new day...

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

Welcome To My Life

Do you ever feel like breaking down?
Do you ever feel out of place?
Like somehow you just don't belong
And no one understands you
Do you ever wanna runaway?
Do you lock yourself in your room?
With the radio on turned up so loud but no one hears you screaming
No you don't know what it's like
When nothing feels all right
You don't know what it's like
To be like me

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
But no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like
Welcome to my life

Do you wanna be somebody else?
Are you sick of feeling so left out?
Are you desparate to find something more?
Before your life is over
Are you stuck inside a world you hate?
Are you sick of everyone around?
With their big fake smiles and their stupid lies
Well deep inside you're bleeding
No you don't know what it's like
When nothing feels all right
You don't know what it's like
To be like me

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
But no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like
Welcome to my life

No one ever lied straight to your face
No one ever stabbed you in the back
You might think I'm happy but I'm not gonna be okay
Everybody always gave you what you wanted
Never had to work it was always there
You don't know what it's like what it's like

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
But no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like

Welcome to my life

A World of Pain

it was late on saturday when i first felt the irritation in my throat... i swallowed harder to try to make it go away but to noa avail... damn... fishbone... stuck there right below my tonsil... at midnight i quickly got changed and took a cab to changi general hospital's A&E department... i was quickly attended to by a doctor who took an x-ray... apparently the x-ray showed nothing... so it was time for the scope... a half metre long fibre optic cable with a camera and light bulb on one end and an eyepiece on the other... the doctor first sprayed lubricant into my left nose and then some local anesthetic into my throat... then, it was time for the pain... he inserted the scope slowly into my nose and down my throat from there to look for the mystery bone... it wasn't really that painful... but it was really uncomfortable... after digging for some time, it was removed... the doctor said that the bone could not be found and so came to the conclusion that the scope had pushed the bone into my stomach... boy was i relieved... the appropriate paper-work was done and i was prescribed some medication plus a 2-day MC till tuesday... pain...

today was the first day of my MC and so i went to camp in the morning to endorse the MC... after that i came back home and did up jason's gundam till it looks like one minus the head... in the evening i went out to catch national treasure with the plh ppl... the show was quite good especially the storyline and the way the events and history were linked... a must-watch for american history buffs and people who generally like mystery/action movies...

and now for my thoughts... it hurt then and it still hurts now... whenever i look back at that day almost a year ago, i never fail to see it with a sense of sadness and disappointment... why did u do it? why did u spite me again? u said u were too busy, too many dreams ahead to let a relationship hold u back... but what did u do? u get someone else and bring him along as if u're showing him off... haiz... disappointment... that's all i can say...

if u've been hanging around me for the past year or so, u'd have caught me saying that i want to go back to school at least once... well, now i've got my wish... i'm back at school... supply and transport training school that is... yup... i finally am on course... class 5 course... driving a 27 ton monster truck on the road... today was my first day and boy were the trucks scary on the road... they take up nearly the whole lane! one wrong move could send the truck up the kerb on the left or into another vehicle on the right! liaoz...

parking was not much easier either... we had to parallel park it... and the stupid power steering thingy was not that power at all... at the rate i'm going, it will mean bigger biceps at the end of the course... urgh... then i also had a cold and sore throat to contend with... not to mention the crappy weather... it kept raining non-stop throughout the day... bleah... it ends on friday IF i can pass the test... so let's just hope for the better shall we?

Not bad for a first phone call, he thought, not bad at all...

And so the nightly phone calls continued ever since that day. The two would chat about anything they could talk about under the sun and in their case, the moon. As time went on, the pair got closer and closer to each other.

By the end of the first week, they had gotten their "permanent" classes. Kelvin went to the science stream, taking Maths C, Physics and Economics. Li Ting went to the arts stream, taking History, Literature and Economics. This meant that their time-tables would be different and that they would only have common breaks during lunchtime and a few scattered periods across the week at different times. Even though they were not always together, the pair would spend as much of their available time with each other. Sometimes they would even skip lessons just to spend time together either having a munch in the cafeteria or studying in the school's study area.

By this time, both Kelvin and Li Ting were already falling in love with each other and so on the 10th day of the second month the year A.D. 2002, the couple "officailly" became an item.

On that starry night after a long day together, Kelvin and Li Ting took a stroll down East Coast Park.

"Nice weather eh?", quipped Kelvin.

"Yup. It's so breezy here. How I wish I could come here every day."

"Yeah. Me too. But you know what'll make it better?"

"What?", Li Ting asked.

"That I can come here everyday and spend my time with you."

"Well, guess what? We must be on the same frequency... 'cause that's what I thought too..."

And with that, the 2 locked lips, engaging in a semi-passionate kiss that lasted a minutes. Neither felt like letting go as the "power" of the kiss surged through their bodies. And so, on the 10th day of the second month the year A.D. 2002, Kelvin and Li Ting kissed for the first time and became an item...

bleah... finally have some time to post... as i said before, my dad's been hogging the com for the past few days so i can't do much on it... anyway, this post will cover my long weekend starting from saturday...

saturday started out with me sleeping in and waking up late... fwah... and for 3 days in a row, that felt real good... heh... that morning, my dad had to visit the doctor so at 10, my mum, dad and i packed into a cab and headed down to dr tham's place near my old house... by 1230, he was done so i followed my mum in a cab to parklane... it was kinda early for my to go to the hobby shop so i spent some time at sim lim looking and oogling at new hardware which i can't afford... heh... dreams... just dreams... haha... ok... so it was nearly 2 and i went over to parklane to withdraw cash cos i didn't have any on me... but for the 2nd day in a row, i forgot to bring my ATM card... argh... i was supposed to give nakamoto the cash for the M1 kit plus the lesson fees... haiz... then i took a cab home to get the card... from there, i went back to the shop to start on my new M1 tank... ended at abt 6 cos there was an S41 gathering at david's place... that was for ruiying's and dingo's b'days... haha... had pizza for dinner and watched FD2... heh... not a bad gathering at all... we dispersed at around 1130 so wai wai, rui, shahin and i took a cab home... heh...i still owe shahin his change... :P... reached home at nearly 1 to find my da still playing spider solitare on the com... sain...

sunday morning was spent in church as usual... had a talk though... then it was off to tao's for lunch with jason, zara and bench... the food there was not too bad so i guess the 25 bucks were worth it... then we went to play LAN with ryan, gabriel and julian.. hahah... trashed them in CS... not bad for a person who hasnt played in ages... after gaming, it was back to the shop to continue with the tank... ended at 6 to join my family for dinner at compass point... at midnight, my dad got a little cranky and fixed fried chicken and lamb for supper... they were delicious i must say... he gave me the recipe so next time i'll cook them... haha....

today it was another day to sleep in... then at abt 945 i went over to jane's place to catch the ferry to JEC where we were meeting jason, ben s and zara... we were supposed to go ice-skating and bowling but the rink was packed and the bowling alley had closed down already... so we ended up going to K-Box... haha... wonderful time there... sang songs till my heart's content... haha... that was done by 230 so we headed to town after much deliberation... dropped at somerset and went to cine to bowl... but the place was closed... sheesh... bleah... closed on a public holiday... how awesome... then we went over to spinelli's for coffee but the place was bursting at its seams with customers... so it was a no go... we were trying to find a place to sit and drink so we ended up walking to wheelock and having drinks at olio dome... heh... they had one drink called a libido booster... hahah... what da heck!? strange name given to a milkshake don't you think... haha... we sat there till about 530 and by that time, jane and ben had to go... so we all left olio and the 2 departed... i followed zara and jason down to wisma and into taka... they were headed to dhoby which was where i was going to catch the NEL for dinner at serangoon... so on the way down, we stopped at heeren to take neo-print... haha... zara is just so damned good with these machines, turning plain digital photo's into works of 'art'... haha... then we took a bus down to dhoby where they all went to the arcade and i went to jumbo for dinner... haha... kkz... gotta work tml so nitez~!...

oh yah.. the lurve story will continue shortly... sorry... :P

Sunday, November 14, 2004

"Hi. I'm Li Ting from your OG remember? I just wanna know you a little better so here's my number. Call me yeah?" Before Kelvin could give an answer, the girl shoved a piece of paper into his pocket and darted away to catch the bus.
Upon reaching his home in Potong Pasir, Kelvin reached into his pocket and pulled out the note. Written on it was Li Ting's handphone number. At first Kelvin was hesitant to dail the number. But after a few moments, he gathered his thoughts and slowly keyed the number sequence into his cordless phone. After a few rings, a soft girl's voice answered, "Hello?"

"You must be Li Ting right?", asked Kelvin with a hint of shyness.

"Yeah. And you must be Kelvin from my OG. I was hoping you would call."

"Heh... Well, I did. So how are you finding the new school?"

"At first I thought that it would be the worst place to go to. But after I saw you, I think my stay will be much better."

"That's what I thought too!", chuckled Kelvin. "But that's for the first part only."

Li Ting let out a little sigh and said, "I hope I can make you change your mind about that last part. So, what subject combination are you planning on taking?..."

And so they chatted the night away. And by the end of the phone call, Kelvin found out that Li Ting was from Temasek Secondary School and that she was interested in pursuing an arts course in OI while he himself was from St Andrew's School and badly wanted to SAJC to complete his 'A' Levels because that's where all his good friends and classmates were. Not forgetting that he loved the Saints tradition.

Not bad for a first phone call, he thought. Not bad at all.

A Love Story...

The Provisional Admission Exercise (PAE) posting results were out. Kelvin checked the MOE website containing the posting results. What greeted him nearly made him spit on the floor with disgust. He was posted to Outram Institute (OI), the land of the undead... at least that's what Ryan called it.

Kelvin just hated himself for being posted there. The place only had 3 stalls in the canteen and the building was so old that a kick to a door could threathen to send the whole shebang down in a cloud of dust and debris. But he saw it coming. Under pressure from his parents, he wanted to go to a JC and take an 'A'-level course. But his prelims dictated that he would go to the CI instead. Should have worked harder for my prelims, he thought, then i wouldn't have to go to such a god-forsaken palce. I mean, what good can come out of it?

It was 2 January 2002, the first day of school for everybody. No exception for Kelvin who went to OI for his orientation. Luckily for him, Ryan, his old classmate and good friend, got posted there too. What made it even better was that Ryan was in Kelvin's OG so at least Kelvin had a friend to talk to and a person to share target observations (girls) with.

Kelvin was quite good looking, having blemish-free skin and the cute looks that most girls want a guy to have. So it was natural that he had many girls after him. He once had a girlfriend in Sec 2 but broke up with her a year later because Kelvin wanted to concentrate on his 'O'-levels. But now it was the first-3-month period of JC life and honeymoon time so there was no holding back.

Kelvin looked around the OG and spotted 2 girls who kept looking at him. That was fast, he thought. But he let them continue looking at him. Wherever the group went the 2 girls would both try to get closer to Kelvin. And so the day went on like that.

It was 5 already and the orientation programme for the day came to a close. Kelvin and Ryan were walking out of the gate talking and chatting happily about their day's experience when one of the girls came over. "Hi. I'm Li Ting from your OG remember? I just wanna know you a little better so here's my number. Call me yeah?"

ok... there's something new brewing on the streets now... it's called the JC attitude...

some of my camp buddies claim that this thing exists in all JC students... but personally , i dun feel a thing... maybe it's because i've been leading a JC life... but what exactly is it? i've asked the people who had personal encounters with it but nobody could describe it... they say that it's like an unexplainable aura that surrounds those who graduate from any one of the 16 JCs in Singapore... have u met this bizzare aura? or do u possess it? have u felt it's presence?

Well, if u do encounter this strange phenomenon, do drop me a hit and tell me what's it about... hmm... the tag-board's still down... so just mail me till it get's back online...

Monday, October 25, 2004

finally it's done... nice work germ... it's a little unlike what i wanted it to be but it's alright... thanks a million! just a few things... could u move the whole page up a little so tt there's a smaller gap between the top of the browser and the pic? and the tag-board could go to the left of the picture... besides that, the rest is alright... and oh yea... could u add a place where i can put in a title for the posts?

today was a black monday at work... it all was well till the black animal (ssg anand) came to work... apparently he received an e-mail this morning abt some LTB ppl who did not dress proplerly for the NE session on friday... so he gets pissed cos he 'loses face' and then orders all of us to fall in and out in No 3 uniform everyday till he's 'satisfied'... i mean like... damn this basta*d... what da heck is he thinking? just because he loses face he can take it out on his men? bloody hell... where is the SAF going to? let me reiterate this... most NCOs are stupid... and this bugger is no exception... bloody gangster... somehow he's still here... i don't know why OC hasn't seen his true colours... sheesh... we should get an officer here to replace this piece of s*it... he doesn't even deserve to be treated like a dog...

sheesh... so i'll be booking in in No3 tomorrow... hope he finds his mind by then... nitez~!

Germ

Hi Mark. I finally did it. I know it's not what you want but I had soooo many problems trying to make it the way you wanted it to be, so I made it like this. And I didn't really know what you wanted cos it's been aaaages since I've spoken to you, whether about this or not. So if you don't like what I've done to it, just tell me and I'll try to turn it back into what you wanted. Right now, your tagboard isn't up yet; I'll put it back up after your approval. Or disapproval. --Germ.

finally have ime to post... heh... the past 2 days been really busy... yesterday had driving lesson in the afternoon but had to go early to make my PDL... driving was ok... did the slope and directional change... the best thing was tt i finally could go on the road... heh... haven't driven in traffic since the time i 'borrowed' my uncle's car... but tt's a different story... so lesson concluded at 230 and i went home...

kinda spent my time at home sleeping tt afternoon... been super tired the whole week without any reason... maybe i should see a doctor soon... woke up at abt 6 to get ready for the wedding dinner... it was the wedding dinner of my mum's cousin... so since she could not go, i represented her... my uncle came to pick us up at 7... traffic was a killer... the CTE was packed so we detoured and went by thomson road instead... whn we got to the cairnhill area it was jammed with the weekend orchard road crowd... haiz... spent alomst 30 mins in the jam... finally we got to taka at 815... but the dinner didn't start till like 9... heh... ironically, the wedding invite stated 730 sharp... haha... musta been the jam... so we started late and ended late... finished at 1130 or so... but something finished earlier than that... just before 11, the waitress informed my drinking uncles that the beer ran out... heh... first time i've heard of this crap... haha... got home at 12 dead beat...

sunday started as usual... took a cab down to church with my brother cos he was leading worship... had mee pok before gg to church... did sound for the worship... heh... kinda played around with uncle nick's voice using the sysytem... but in the end kena caught... after church, it was time to go play LAN... tried doom 3 for a while... kowz... damn scary game man... the first mission was dark and zombies just start popping out of nowhere... then suddenly fireball-throwing monsters start showing up... but the worst part was that my ammo ran out... sheesh... the graphics were damn intense... no wonder ppl can die just playing it... haha... but we finally played BF: vietnam... haha... super fun... flying in my MiG-17 and bombing da hell out of ppl... haha... got my first AA kill too in a phantom... stoopid julian! haha... next time must train all of them to fly da planes and rule da skies over Hanoi... haha...

we stopped at abt5 and i went to the shop to do my tomcat... it's almost complete save for the landing gear and the decals... looks alright at the moment... but it'll be better once the decals are up... but i couldnt do much today cos at 6, my brother calls me to meet him and wanting for dinner at bugis.. my mum came too in the end and we had seoul garden... kowz... i kinda ate too much just now... oops... tt's it... will go running tml even if it kills me... somebody be my witness and remind me again at 630 tml evening...

ok... gotta go off to work tml morning... till then, leave a mark...

Tuesday, October 19, 2004

heyhey... shall blog today.... work was a blast... with the dog away on vacation for the past few days, going to work wasn't that much of a chore as it usually is... he's coming back tml... so things will go back to it's usual dullness... bleah... let's hope his flight gets delayed or something... stall him for another day!

after work, it i went for dinner at bedok... had char kway teow there... dunno what the cholorea fuss is about... the guy kinda lacked business and was quite happy when i ordered... i thibk he gave me extra too... :) ... ok, then it was down to comfort driving centre for my very first driving lesson... reached there at 7... but i forgot my lesson was at 840! :P ... waited for 1 1/2 hrs for the lesson to start... bleah... should have checked... oh well...

the lesson started on time... the instructor was some north indian guy... so communuication was not a problem... was really hoping i didnt get some old chinese guy... and i guess i was lucky... anyway, when i told him i was a first time driver, he went like, "and i thought i could sleep already"... but that quickly changed when i drove off... at first the accelerator and brake felt too sensitive... been driving tonners for too long already... but i got used to them and the rest of the ride went smoothly... heh... after the S-curves and crank course, he ate his words... no kerb-strikes and superb control he quipped... haha... looks like the SAF driving course paid off...

by 1015, it was time to conclude the lesson... i brought the car to the fuel pump and we took on gas... while this was happening, he informed me that he passed all of my module 1 lessons except the slope and directional change... not bad i must say considering that this is my first time in a manual car... hahah... next lesson on saturday.. gg on the road already... heh... even jane required almost 10 lessons to get to where i am... ha...

good time spent this weekend... yesterday, went go catch resident evil 2 with jase, bench, bens, jane and hunky at plaza sing... before that, had pool session with jase and hunky... my pool standard has disgustingly dropped to an all time low... took us at least 20 mins to clear one game... too many misses and mis-cues... bleah... after the movie, we went to the hawker place oppposite centrepoint for supper... then followed jane home in her parent's car...

today was church as usual followed by the also usual mohaa at parklane... kowz... couldnt play long cos ryan and bench still havent completed their exams... well, another few more weeks and it'll be back to normal... minus the homework that is.. okok... gotta go offline... leave a mark...

NOW HEAR THIS... NOW HEAR THIS...

The Resident Evil outing this Saturday for PLHers above the age of 16 on that day is CONFIRMED... we'll be watching the 7pm show at GV Plaza Singapura... to make things easier for me please tell me whether you are going by the end of DBS tomorrow night... so far i'v got the following people going...
- jason
- ben smith
- jane
- hunky andrew
small crowd... but hey...it's better than nothing right? anyway, bencher, please give me your reply... ok... tt's it from me... nitez~!
544 more days to ORD... eternity to me... tt's one and a half years more... stuck with stupid bosses and some people who piss me off just by being there... well, luckily they ORD earlier than me... a bit of a consolation but... it's better than nothing... kowz... another week spent doing nothing much except just sitting around and/or sleeping... liaoz... i dun think the SAF sent me for a 2 month driving course just to make me sit around all day and stare into nowhere at the eastern-most end of Singapore right? i mean... i must be there to accomplish something right? so why aren't i being sent for my class 5, forklift and crane courses? i feel useless at work... but that's not the point... I'M BORED... if only there were computers with internet access available... then can play gunbound to kill time... haha... but i'm just dreaming... sheesh... no wonder not many people put STO as an ambition... k... 'nuf going to bed... good night... and to ben smith... if u read this, pls call me after work tomorrow... dinner awaits...

kowz... it happens to me again... today while i was going to have dinner at rivervale mall, some blardy toot accidentally pushes me and my pocket hit the table corner... i heard a 'crunch' but i tot it was nothing... but that was until i got home... kowz... the whole screen was cracked and the LCD display was damaged... liaoz... tt's twice in 3 mths for the LCD and 3 times in the same number of months for the screen... kowz... i tot the phone was safe in my pouch but i guess i was wrong... so now ihave to use my grandma's 8250 once again till my phone is repaired... liaoz... kkz... gotta go slp already... nitez~!

hahah.... man u 6 - 2 fernabahce... rooney hat-trick... van the man, bellion and giggsy adding to the scoreline... haha... rooney rocks man (U)!!! go go... go man u go go go go!!!

stupid pool... lost 1 - 0 to olympiakos... damned idiots... "Liverpool lose to a Greek side for the first time in their history and deserved nothing more. A poor, scrappy game that Liverpool, despite enjoying periods of possession, never got a handle on. 1-0 the final score." - soccernet.com

bleah... even with a formiddable strike force which sees the likes of milan baros, djibril cisse and saliff diao(???) they still get it all wrong... heh... once title contenders... now just mid-tablers... time to shape up eh... same to man u... but they are picking up form and might just get back up to the top 3 by mid-season... so i'm just here waiting to see that happen... haha...

all hail rooney the wonder-kid who toppled Arsenal's 31 game unbeaten run in 2002... heh... too bad chelsea and newcastle didn't get to him first... too bad for them... good for united... hehe.... kkz... nitez~!

initially, i tot that the parade meant extra work and was just a pain in the ass (PITA)... but after 4 training sessions, it was starting to look better...

first, dun need to go back to changi and see that bloody dog... stoopid boss keeps giving all of us trouble... always finding fault in all we do and confiscating well-deserved offs... the reason why we all hate him is mainly because of this... but the reason why the seniors hate him is cos of something else... when a batch of the former STOs ORDed, the stoopid dog said something like this: "ok... u have served your purpose here and are no more useful to me anymore... you may all go..."... bloody dog... treats us like labourers... hehe... but just waiting for christmas eve when another batch of seniors ORD... just waiting for them to screw the dog upside down, left, right, centre... haha... back to the parade...

second, we get to dismiss earlier as compared to when we are at changi... the chief warrant officer of NALCOM always dismisses us at around 2+... a full 3 hours earlier than at changi... there is no stoopid pep talk given and no speeches made by ssg anand (the dog master)... however, the irritating thing is that whenever we fall out early at tuas, we have to call changi up and tell them... but somehow, people over there get jealous of our early dismissal and always ask questions like... ...are u sure they let u go??? who let u all go off??? then they give us instructions like these... ...call the dog and tell him first before u leave... tell the Base Sergeant Major to call staff... liaoz.... the audacity... telling a Warrant Officer to call a Staff Sergeant just beacuse of 4 men who are about to be released early... kowz... and the people who are jealous are those who pushed the few of us to go for parade... kowz... can't stand them anymore...

argh... it's gonna be all over soon... today was the last rehearsal for the supporting contingents so the next time i'm at tuas will be on the actual day on friday... hope by then we can all iron out our performance and give the outgoing commander a show he'll never forget... kkz.. nitez~!

Thursday, September 23, 2004

KABOOM!!! i've been hit by yet another bomb... this time it's about me participating in the NALCOM change of command parade... origianally, it was supposed to be one of my fellow STOs who was to participate... but today he reported sick for some growth on his hand and went to CGH to operate on it before lunch... he received a 2 day MC and 2 week ATT B... liaoz... so i was next in line... so tml, i'll be at tuas instead of changi to attend one of the rehearsals... long time no march already... wonder if i'll be ready... haha...

i still remember my POP after BMT... haha... it rained... so 4 whole days of hard work was literally flushed down the drain... haha.... wonder if it'll happen again... heh... let's hope not... dun really want to see another 3 days of marching go to waste... well, i'll be off now... gotta move off earlier from home tml... nitez~!

i've had many bad weeks in my life... but this week takes the cake (if i survive it that is)... it all started with yesterday's duty at TNB... it wasn't that bad acutally but i had to stay-in and that was a super-negative point in itself... so i came back to CNB at 11 and guess what i found? on the detail board was a detail for wed that looked like this:

NDU <= Indenting unit: Naval Diving unit
30 TON <= Vehicle indented: Tadano 30-ton Crane
0515 <= Time of indent: 5.15 AM
LIFT 02x RHIBS <= Mission: Lift 2 Rubber-Hulled Inflatable BoatS
PIC: SSG IVAN ENG <= Person-in-charge
9xxxxxxx <= His contact
KENDRICK WHARF <= Operation location: LST Wharf

and next to this was my name written in red... liaoz... another stay-in tml... sheesh... 2 stay-ins within a period of 3 days and 3 times in as many weeks... it's like going on holiday except that my hotel is LTB... and i just did this same detail 3 weeks ago... damn... before i thought things could get no worse, further down in the sunday row was this:

NDU
30 TON
1700
LIFT 02x RHIBS
PIC: SSG IVAN ENG
9xxxxxxx
KENDRICK WHARF

it was a damned sunday detail... and once again, my name was in red next to it... damned suay... i'm on the stand-by list for both these days... arghh!!! there goes my tuesday night and my sunday evening... sheesh...

but things just got worse... at 3, my admin i/c comes into the room and announces that i've got IPPT tml... liaoz... i can't be that suay right??? shit man... the worst week is right here, right now... and it might just get worse... the week ain't over till its over...

but on the bright side, i'll get a day off for every detail that i do over-time... so there are benefits for losing sleep and time spent with friends... oh well... as the Dog always says: 'you are a conscript in a conscript armed forces... there is no such thing as compulsory off so don't take things for granted... and remember this... off is recall-able...' bloody hell... now that's the reason why this guy is so damn hated in the STO section... how i wish mr ng was with us...

bleah... enough complaining... leave a mark...

today i went down to the airport to go crash a studying session... sarah kinda leaked to me that she was going to the airport to study with candice, bench and rye... so i kinda decided to crash and maybe give the o-level newbies some tips and help...

i was supposed to meet sarah and tanah merah at 12 but managed to reach there 15 mins late... so yeah... i'm sorry... but it kinda feels good to have people wait on me... haha... ok.. so we took the train and met the rest ae the T2 BK... the place was packed with people and there were lots of students studying there too... my 3 hours there were spent teaching candice a bit of physics and catching up with my o-level stuff... haven't seen so many easy questions in quite a while... sheesh... i've lost touch with studying and books... time to pick up again soon... dun really wanna go to uni not knowing a thing abt differentiation and integration...

yeah... it's time to get back to the study pace again... my 9 mths in NS has taken it's toll on me in terms of my IQ and my knowledge-absorbtion... i think i've been hanging around with too many "stupid" people for too long and it ain't getting healthy... sheesh... ok... gotta go to tuas early tml... so leave a mark...

time to talk abt my future... had a discussion with my aunt and my parents that day... we were talking abt me and what i'm going to do abt my life after NS... here are the options:

1. apply to NUS/NTU again next year and hope that the next batch of students are too stupid o qualify...

2. go to the polytechnic...

3. go overseas...

4. just bum around...

ok... so 4 sounds the best but it won't work... anyway, we kinda talked abt the going overseas thing... yeah... i wanna go take aeronautical engineering in uni... so the best would be going to australia to do it... i did some research and found that the best place to go to would be the royal melbourne institute of technology (RMIT)... so i told that to my family and they were kinda skeptical at first... then my aunt backed me and said that it was a good idea... fwahz... i actually might be going overseas... this got me thinking about australia...

i already asked jason and he said tt i could bunk with him at his place in melbourne... so that should save me some cash... and there's the prospect of getting my own car there too... so it'll be great if i do go over... so yeah... but it also set me thinking about what would happen if i left... what would happen to PLH? what would happen to my family? what would happen to the people i care about? so much to consider...

but in the end i still want to go so for now i'll sit tight and wait for things to fall in place and see where things go from there...

Saturday, September 11, 2004

alrighty... today was kinda good esp since it is 9-11... hehe... went to go play ball jason and the guys at NP at 3... today, we took on player names and boy was it great... haha... jason: alan iverson... shaun: yao ming (it was his height)... julia: jason kidd... bench: kobe bryant(???) and myself: shaq... haha... great time man... yao and shaq really rock! haha... played till 6 then kidd had to leave... so i went with her... took a cab all da way home...

then, i met my mum for dinner near chinatown... she wanted to bring me to some place special for dinner cos it's me b'dae... so we ended up dining in some super classy fine dining restaurant along club street... i've never tried food this good before... super gorgeous... had mushroom appetiser, then super tender lamb for the main course... but the best was dessert... chocolate cake with a hot chocolatey filling served with vanilla ice-cream... bloody good i must say... yum... haha... the bill came up to $116 for 2 ppl... expensive... but hey, it was worth it... haha

so now i'm at home waiting for my dad to come home from his trip to malaysia... and oh yah... i passed my basic theory... so now can go for driving lessons liaoz... yeah... kkz... gtg slp liaoz... still got church tml... leave a mark...

happy holidays to those who have the luxury of having them... curses to the SAF for not giving servicemen "term break"... i think we really need it...

but i guess they compensated us by implementing the 5-day work week thingy.... haha... starting this week, i'm going to sleep in on saturdays! on top of that, my work hours won't be extended as previously stated... this came as a result of NALCOM figuring out that it wasn't worth it... haha... so too bad to all those air force and army pukes out there... note that this is targeted at 2 very special clerks in the respective services.... but the army one is probably too slack to get hit by this pun...

so anyway, kudos to the navy for finally waking up their idea and dishing out welfare... coming tml, a dictionary of most commonly used army terms for those who will never have the privillage to serve in the biggest non-profit organisation in our lion city... haha... till then leave me something to see on da tag-board...

Sunday, September 05, 2004

this weekend was one of the best ever... lets start with friday evening...

after work at abt 530, went for BS in church.... tommy and jophia were leading so it was going to be interesting... sadly, only keenan, jane and myself were present to enjoy the fantastic BS that we had... the 2 mentors brought our little 'class' to fort cannng park... on the way there, we weren't allowed to talk but just take in all the sights and sounds as well as meditate on Psalm 114... so there we went, passing traffic, people and buildings... as we approached fort canning, all the sounds of the city started to fade and soon, all we could hear and see was nature... BS in the park was really good cos we were studying abt the environment and sitting amongst nature was pretty appropriate... i wont for get this study for some time... too bad jason and ben weren't there... they would have enjoyed it...

saturday morning was a blast... instead of going to camp as usual, i reported to the singapore zoological gardens instead... it was the NMTB family day and everyone was forced to attend... spent my time roaming the park for the entire duration of the event... since my last visit almost 10 years ago, the zoo hasn't changed much... the exhibits are still where they used to be... so finding my way around was pretty easy... the reptile exhibit was the most boring... being early in the morning, the cold-blooded creatures had not warmed up and were somewhat inanimate... so it was kinda boring in a sense but at least it was better than going back to that hell hole of LTB...

after the zoo, it was back home where i took a shower and an hour later i left to go meet shaun at serangoon mrt... there, we were joined by julian, zara, bernice and joyce... together our group went to PLMC for the music workshop conducted by the church (i think)... went for bass guitar lesson... and boy was it sian... at first it was still ok... but as the instructor progressed, it got more cheem until i just couldn't understand a thing he said and anything that he demo-ed... :P... sheesh... just wished i was more awake and that i had actually bothered to read up about and practice playing scales... my fingers are too short!!! by 530, i was shagged out cos of all the cheemness and the finger-stretching torture... :P...

then it was off to wai wai's place for BBQ with S41... havent seen them since the last outing to the movies 2 mths back... i think the drug-lord was feeling rich and treated us to the entire BBQ... we never forked out a single cent... was supposed to be there at 6 but i reached at 7+ with razif... *some things just never change*... when we got there, they were just starting the fire... a whole hour late... *some things just never change*... first on the heat were the sausages... the chef, colin made sure they were really cooked and burrt them till thel looked like d*cks with black leprosy on them... *some things just never change*... so i took over and made sure that the rest was appetising if not edible... *some things just never change*... i cooked quite a bit when i finally took a break and started eating... chatted with the rest of the ppl in the meantime, talking abt NS till the girls got bored... suddenly, ruiying started attacking edmund cos he "jee siao-ed" (made fun of) her... *some things just never change*... haha... pretty fun seeing those 2 in action... :P ... but what i enjoyed most was the time spent with the class... we don't see each other much these few days due to either NS or school... wish that we can meet often... *some things just never change*... just before we wrapped up, boss suddenly appeared and attempted to down the rest of the food in 15 mins... *some things just never change*... after the flames were put out, the class went off to orchard for coffee... well, i did not go cos i was super broke... *now, that's new*... so i took a cab home and managed to sleep by 1 surprisingly... haiz... *some things just never change*...

sunday was just like any other... in church at 9 after picking up zara at her place... then it was band prac... super last minute... and that brudder of mine can't speak properly... ARTICULATE man... couldn't hear a thing... then it was class study followed by lunch and MOHAA... bloody julian, andre and andrew spoilt the whole thing by quitting suddenly and playing gunbound... liaoz... supposed to play LAN... instead play internet game... sheesh... ben and i stopped at 5... by then i was already super, not tired but sian... i also dunno why... i kept thinking abt it on my way home but i just couldn't figure out why... i tried thinking of activities which interest me usually but nothing semed to jog my sian-ed mind... liaoz... "i hope, wish, pray that somebody could just give me a chance..." *some things just never change*...

my leg's busted... i was carrying rations back from the cookhouse to MT line when it happened... i crossed the pavement along blk 215 and was abt to cross the road when... CRRUNK!!! my right foot fell into a ditch at an awkward angle and i sprained my ankle pretty bad... i managed to hobble my way back to the office and got some help from the guys there... then staff kho told me to go to the medical centre and so i went in a pickup... at CNMC, the doctor performed some tests and soon, i was on my way to the sick-bay to rest and let the swelling in my ankle subside... i was putting a cold compress on and off the ankle every 2-3 mins... but soon, i fell asleep... the sick-bay was really a hospital ward with hospital-style beds and even a call-for-nurse(medic) button at every bed... so that's where the tax-payers' money went... at 1, i was awoken my a medic who came with my lunch... the MO thn came in to give me a final inspection and i was sent on my way... sgt pramjit was tasked to fetch me back to LTB... i got back and started preparing to leave CNB cos of the 2 day MC that the doc gave... and that's on top of a 10 day light duty status... looks like i'll be office-bound for a while... sheesh... so now i'm stuck at home in front of the com with boredom by my side... well, i guess it'll be sticking around with me for some time too... haiz... leave a mark...

to germ: how's the new background coming and stuff? any update?

There really ARE good military personnel out there...

There really ARE good military personnel out there...

ok... this happened on monday... it was 5.45pm and the boss released our pathetic little souls from the evil gates of Changi LTB... as the last bus left at 5.50, all of us were rushing to get changed and scoot out of the place to catch the last ride out... while everyone else scrambled to get their barang barang (stuff in malay... i think...) together and get out, i waited for my friend thomas to finish changing into his civvies (i had already changed)... he was trying to change at lightning speed... but it was not fast enough... just as we left the STO office, the bus pulled out of the bus stop outside and headed for tanah merah MRT station, transporting the slaves of CNB to the land of the free... this left thomas and i stranded in the unholy place for another 40 mins until the 6.30 bus came and picked up more helpless souls... however, thomas, being thick-skinned as he was, asked my boss for a lift in his car to the main gate hoping that there would be a bus to take us away... he surprisingly obliged and took us to the guardhouse... kind soul number 1...

so there we were waiting for a bus when we spotted the bus director, the person in charge of all the shuttle buses... we walked over and enquired about the time that the next bus would come... to our horror, he said that the next bus was the 6.30 one... both of us just couldn't imagine waiting that long for a bus to come... so this suddenly spurred thomas on to try to flag down a vehicle that was on its way out of the base and going towards tanah merah... he managed to flag down a car driven by a No. 4 clad CDS Master Sergeant... unfortunately, he was not going our way and we watched him depart... next came a silver mitsubishi lancer... thomas quickly flagged down the car and asked where the driver was going... i heard 'hougang'... JACKPOT!!!

i quiclkly boarded and we were on our way... it turned out that the driver was a Master Warrant Officer and was actually the CWO of the Fleet... this means he's a REALLY big big shot... won board he asked the usual questions... 'where do you stay?'... 'which unit are you from?'... 'vocation?' (surprisingly, he's never heard of us STOs)... 'regular or NSF?'... after that bout of questions, the topic finally shifted... we were now discussin about the new policies that our new PM, Lee Hsien Loong, put in place during his inaugural national day rally the previous night... the most important thing the warrant discussed with me was the the new education policy of 'teach less, learn more'... we were in agreement that children nowadays were being spoon-fed information and that most of what they learn isn't really learnt but rather, memorised without knowing how or why things work in a specific way... we talked about the american system where the kids are forced to present ideas in fornt of a class staring at a very young age... he compared this to singaporean kids who would hide behind mommy should they be asked to conduct a short speech in front of an audience of peers... i guess that's true so the new policy gets my utmost approval...

by this time, i was already at the main road outside my house... i was so thankful for him that i forgot how many times i said 'thank you'... but it was really nice of him to pick up a complete stranger who's way below him in rank and send him all the way home... kind soul number 2...

so my verdict is that there ARE really kind souls in the military... even NCOs are kind... however, i still stand by the fact that most of them are real b*stards at times and they can be a reay pain in the a*s... oh wells, it's past 12... better go to bed... nitez~!... oh yah... look out for a new style that my blog is going to adopt real soon... so stay tuned and leave a mark!

Whoever wins, We lose...

Whoever wins, We lose...

ok... as u probably have guessed by now, i went to catch alien vs predator (AVP) today... finished work at 5 and went to meet jase, bench and shaun lee at cineleisure for the flick... jason somehow managed to get tix for the sneaks just a day before the official opening... and they weren't crappy front row seats like what i've been getting the past 3 times i was at a movie... the show started on time at 740 and the ride was on...

it starts when some rich guy's satellite picks up strange heat signatures from some remote part of anarctica... he discovers that there is some sort of pyramid-shaped, temple-like structure buried under the ice... so he sends a team down to investigate... at the entry site, they discover that a massive hole had already been 'dug' all the way to the temple's entrance 2,000m below the surface... they took this route in, not realising who 'dug' the hole... the team reaches the temple in one piece... but when they enter, things start getting hairy... the ppl outside get attacked by 3 predators and the alien queen mother starts giving birth... as u can guess, the aliens use a few of the humans to populate the temple... the survivors then find some sort of predator weapons in a sarcophagus... then, as the title suggests, all hell breaks loose when alien takes on predator... losses were incurred on all 3 sides but it creates a distraction to allow the humans time to regroup... one by one, the humans get picked off by predator and alien... but ultimately, the 2 were fighting each other... but the cool part comes when the heroine of the movie kills an alien which attacked predator... the predator spares her and uses spare parts of the dead alien to make a shield and spear for the girl... so now it's human and predator vs alien... the 2 find the nest and blew it up with the predator's nuclear weapon while making a very quick exit to the surface... unknowingly, the queen mother escapes too and attacks the duo... as to who wins the last battle, watch the show to find out yourself cos i dun wanna spoil everything...

but the coolest part of the show is the way the story writer took 2 alien species and connected them together... predator came to earth and met up with inca people... these people worshipped them as gods cos the predators taught them how to build and be prosperous... in return, the predators ask for humans to be sacrificed and made to produce aliens... these aliens were the predators prey in a game of the hunter vs the hunted... eventually, predator loses the settlement to aliens and destroy most of it using their wrist- nuclear bomb... they destroy almost everything except for this temple and use it as their giant laser-quest gallery once every 100 years...

the show ended at 945... and we went to the arcade to shoot time crisis and play the table hockey thingy... after we split, i hopped over to phoenix hotel to catch a cab home... one taxi pulled up into the driveway with passengers on board... so i waited for them to alight before boarding... the first guy looked pretty ok... as for the other 2, it was hard to tell if they were male or female... on was wearing a pink t-shirt and bell-bottom jeans and carried a leather handbag... the other was wearing a sleeveless blouse and a super short mini skirt... he/she too was carrying a handbag... sheesh... FAGGOT ALERT!!! i got on the cab and was on my way... the taxi driver also noticed this strange sight and he too was quite surprised... heh... FAGGOT ALERT!!!

ok... that was my day... just read it and leave a mark... thanks...

HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!

HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!

over the weekend, it was pretty sporty for me once again... on saturday, we played ball in camp with the seniors cos there was absolutely no work... it was really 2 solid hours of balls kicking and it was a great work out... it was nearly as good as the good old days with S41 on the street soccer court in school... but it wasn't better....ahhh.... the good old days.... then on sunday after church, there was basketball at ngee ann... the sun was blistering hot so after just 1 hr, most of us were already punctured... it was fun tho... but i guess the previous day's intense soccer spree casued me to puncture early the next day... sheesh... then in the evening, went down to jason's place to catch the community shield match between aresnal and man u... both teams fielded "small fry" players so it was set to be interesting...

the first half saw man u pushing the ball numerous times into the aresnal box and aresnal counter-attacking at every opportunity... there were also many offsides given to the man u players as they made their runs too early... so it was even-steven at 45 mins... the second half saw all the action... in the 49th min, reyes dribbled past the last man u defender and beat howard to shoot... his shot however, could not beat the side netting... open goal... idiot... in the 50th min, reyes received a good pass in what seemed to be an offside position but the linesman's flag stayed down... by this time, 2 other aresnal players had beaten their markers and were charging at full steam towards the man u goal... without any defenders in sight, reyes calmly pushed the ball to gilberto who beat the hapless howard with ease... 1-0 to arsenal... 5 mins later, man u answered arsenal... with some briliant passing down the left flank, the ball suddenly found itself directly in front of alan smith who, with a cool volley, made his debut goal for man u spectacular, beating lehmann from just outside the box... in the 60th min, arsenal hit back once again during a defence confusion... it was reyes this time who claimed credit for the goal... then in the 78th min, another defence blunder saw ashley cole alone in the left side of the box... he tried to cross but his pass was deflected by silvestre... and the ball beat howard and landed into the united net... and so the final score stood at 3-1... but remember this fact... in the past 6 years, the winner of the community shield never lifted the premiership cup of that season...

Sports Report from Telok Kurau

alright sports fans... today was day 2 of the EP sports fellowship at AG Home in Telok Kurau... PSPC sent a total of 5 teams taking part in several events: captain's ball (boys and girls), basketball (boys and girls) and soccer (boys)... today we had 2 victories and 3 losses... not bad i must say... the boys captain's ball team pulverised the team from Covenant Presbyterian with a 20+ point goal difference... compared to yesterday, this team was a walk-over... but i think it was because of the domineering persence of the tall players like shaun, tommy, ian and uncle justin that made short work of our opponents... they barely got a shot on target and even if they did, shaun or ian would be there to ensure that the ball would never reach their captain on the chair... by half-time, we had already 14 goals compared to their 1... so in the second half, we "gave them chance" and played the lesser-experienced players like gabriel and matthias... so the final score was something like 26-6... but the win was all that counted... if we only had today's team yesterday then we wouldn't have been the ones getting trashed... the other game we won in was the girls basketball... the team made up of julia, carena, shi hui, gwen and hannah also made short work of the AG home team... to these experienced basketballers, 3 of which play for the same school team, this competition looks almost sealed... well, let's hope they keep up the good performances... today's score was 23-8... yesterday's was 20-4... no worries here... we lost the rest of the games mostly because, according to the players, their opponents were pretty rough... the soccer opponents looked like middle-aged guys who meet regularly to play... and they were rough when things got down and dirty, pushing and shoving their way through our defence... the basketball guys also faced the same problem but with the teens they played... the number of fouls they comiitted was just phenomenonal... every now and then when i turned to look at the court, an opposing player would be lectured by the ref for pushing or holding on to our player... well, so much for fair play... then there was the girls captain's ball... we were doing well in the first half and the score was pretty much even with us in a slight lead... then, the opposing team sent in their secret weapon... it was an older lady... but she was extremely good... she was "all over the court"... from what i heard, she could be at one end of the court one moment and suddenly at the other in a moment... even candice was too slow for her... we suspected that she was some pro netballer or something... then there's the question abt the age limit but we didnt ask them... in injury news, germain heng today suffered a very badly sprained ankle during the basketball match... and a girl from another church suffered a suspected arm fracture while playing basketball... this clearly shows that even in a "safe" church environment, accidents may sometimes occur... so to those atheletes out there, always take care of yourself and remember that safety comes first... this is mark signing off...

and pls leave a mark...

A Sporty Day...

ok... today was the Life run for NALCOM at CNB... so went to camp early for the event... but not as a participant... i was tasked, along with all the other STO new ppl, to become a traffic marshal for the run... so we were deployed around the 2.4km route to serve as markings for turning points and to direct both human and road traffic... we ended at abt 10 and went to the stadium to watch soccer... it was quite exciting considering that the scoring started just 2 mins into the game... so yeah... it finished at abt 12 and we all got dismissed... i went down to bedok for lunch and to meet ben... then at abt 2, we went to eunos where we met the rest of the lighthouse crew and we went down to the AG home for the EP inter-church sports meet... played captains ball... we lost quite badly but the girls made up for it, trashing their opponents in both captains ball and basketball... after my match, i had a quick rest then i was back on the field... this time it was to just kick a soccer ball around with my bro and ryan... haven't really kicked a ball like that since a long time ago... i think it was when i was still in JC, kicking ball every week with chau and khail... well, now i'm dead beat... not enough stamina stay hyper after sports... there's chuch tml so i'll take an early night... so leave a mark yea?

QUOTE OF THE DAY... AND MAYBE THE ENTIRE YEAR...

"*COUGH COUGH*... SORRY, I'M ALLERGIC TO BULSHIT..."

Monday, July 26, 2004

had a pretty interesting day today... interesting cos it wasn't the usual day at work and stuff... anyway, today i had a tea session with my Commanding Officer (CO) at tuas... so i reported to work as usual but instead of staying at changi to get my butt blown off by SSG dog, i took the 0915 ferry to tuas with a couple of the new STOs... reached at abt 1030 so we went to the canteen to sit around and have lunch... the session didn't start till 1300 but the wait was fine... had some last minute 'tuition' lessons by the chief clerk on basic NMTB stuff cos the CO would be asking questions and that if we couldnt answer, it would mean confinement... so i studied for the first time since A levels... CO finally came in at 1500 and he gave a little speech, asking questions along the way... thankfully, nobody was confined... and that was it... left tuas at 1700 but i didnt go straight home... instead i went to JEC with my fellow mates and 'chiong'-ed CS for an hour... damn i suck at it... crap... losing form liaoz... haiz... got home at 2000 and been wathcing Enemy of the State (i think... :P) ever since... liaoz... tml it's back to work and more slogging... but i recall correctly, there's not much work tml... so i guess that we'll be doing USMS or some stupid time-wasting activity that has ZERO productivity... bleah... okies.. this was just to please my dearest sister, SARAH... so LEAVE A MARK...

Saturday, July 24, 2004

alrighty then... week end's report coming out now... had a super tiring week cos of all the details we did plus my late, late nights... i was so beat that i couldnt attend the captain's ball practice at ngee ann... sheesh... sleepy liaoz... but i havent even had dinner!!! crap... okies... i think i'll go with my mum to eat punggol nasi lemak nearby... leave a mark...

Cool Pics...

here are some cool pics i managed to get off the web... enjoy the pics... by the way, my latest post is below this one... =P

course is finally over... so tml i'll be reporting back to the dreaded changi naval base... it's not that the place sucks... but it's the supervisor there... that SSG dog... always giving us trouble... there's never been a time when we can just sit in the office and relax for more than 1 hr... when he comes back from any job, he'll just enter and if somebody's not doing anything, he'll give some sarcastic remark and then force the guy to work... and it's not 'real' work he gives... it's stuff like reading the vehicle manuals and operating guides... but we have courses for that wad... stupid idiot... that's why i came to the conclusion that most NCOs are just a bunch of respect-demanding, lowly educated idiots who ought to be in charge of the toilet and not a sophisticated dept like the MT line... in contrast, i think that most comissioned officers earn respect instead of demanding it like SSGs and WOs... they actually don't mind ppl not greeting them and stuff... but those NCOs just want a display of 'respect' to show that they are bigger than PTEs and LCPs... argh... how i wish that one of these days, SSG dog will be posted out to the guardroom and some more sensible 2LT or LTA will come and take charge... just can't stand him...

well, my days at ayer rajah are over...
no more super good treatment...
now it's just doggy torment...
no more super-welfare SSG Tok...
now it's just that stupid SSG dog...
no more super crispy chicken wing...
now it's just suffering...

damn... starting to wish for my next course to start... and then can escape from the bark and bite again...

Tuesday, July 13, 2004

okies... finally i've got time to post... been pretty busy the past week doing all the admin thingy for the STO section at changi... but now finally i have a break... i'm on course now at ayer rajah camp... so it's pretty much slack cos, as i said, it's a course... the army can't do nuts to us navy guys... they practically can't touch us... anyway, the past 2 days there have been quite good... i can actually get home earlier than when i'm at changi... that's cos the person in charge there isn't as "bastard-ish" as that dog SSG kho... it should be more like SSG Gou... sounds the same wad... so i'm gonna enjoy this week and next monday... ok... and another thing... i'm feeling much better than i felt last week... must have been the trip to alex's... haha... think we should do it again... bleah... hehe... okies... leave a mark yeah...

tonight was one cool night... ok... so maybe it wasnt as cool as most people would imagine it to be... anyway, here goes...

at 6, met zif, khail and chau at newton to chiong newton circus... had bbq clams, squid and stingray... that was followed by satay... 20 sticks... when we had our fill, we headed down to cuppage with the hope of playing pool... when we got there, we were put on the waiting list... but up to now, they STILL havent called to say, "we have a table for you."... crappy... but we spent our time playing LAN... CS and generals were our games... completely dominated the CS game... but got walloped in generals... damned angy mobs... -_-" ... we finished up at abt 1030 and went home... damned tired now... anyway, just eave a mark...

Spiderman... Spiderman...

Spiderman... Spiderman...

yoz... just came back from movie outing with the lighthouse ppl... and boy was it a good show... as u may have guessed already, it was the marvel comic hero's second movie, spiderman 2 starring tobey maguire and kirsten dunst...

as usual, spiderman saves the city of new york as well as his beloved mary-jane watson... this time, the baddie is dr ock or dr otto octavius... the doc is transformed into the 8-limbed creature u have seen in the trailer in an experiment gone wrong... as his lab is destroyed, he has to search for an alternate location to finish off his experiment... so he goes off and leads a life of crime in order to fund his dream... our friend, spidey, on the other hand, is struggling both as peter parker and as the masked hero... peter is fired from his pizza delivery job and then from the bugle... then, mary-jane gets a new guy in the form of jaimeson's kid, john... anyway, in a bid to avenge his father's death, harry osbourne hires ock to capture spidey so that harry can unmask him and kill him... so as usual, a couple of ppl who are close to spidey also get tangled up in this mess... ah well, it was a great show... 2 thumbs up from me... 2 more from jason, 2 more each from claire, lyd and amanda and 2 more from julia... that's a total of 12 out of 10... ok... so it was a super good show... go catch it k!... haha...

ok... end of post... dun forget to leave me ur comments and shout outs!... nitez~! ;>

S41 totally rocks my world...

S41 totally rocks my world...

ok... havent blogged in some time... so i'll blog abt the super fun saturday i had... ok... maybe it wasnt "fun" in that sense... but it was more like a refreshing time that i had... and this was how it went...

the day started as usual with me going to work at 830... did nothing but slack in the office... no job, no work... ok... then we fell out at 12 and i went home... then at 5, i left home again and headed to orchard... i was going to meet the ppl from s41... it's been a really long time since we had a gathering with this kind of turn up... 18 of us went and the last time we had such an attendance was during our grad night... and boy was this night just as good... we first went for dinner at nooch... were supposed to go to nydc but it was full... anyway, it took us more than 10 mins to get settled cos of the s41 syndrome... i had una don which was superb... it was really worth the $15 i paid... after dinner, we went to lido to catch a movie... and as usual, our in-deciciveness caused us to just stand around the box-office area for more than 1/2 hr while we tried to decide on what to watch... so in the end, it was going to be "around the world in 80 days" starring jackie chan... the movie was just darn funny as jackie chan kicked and punched his was through europe, the middle east and asia to get around the world... guest appeareances by arnold schwarzenegger (i think i got that right... :P), owen wilson and rob schnider keep the comedy in check... in all, it was a great movie... so go catch it yeah... the movie finished at 1130 so i had to take a bus or cab home... but i figured the best way was to take a bus closer to home then take a cab from there... so i followed rui ying on 105... had a nice chat with her... found out that she was working at a pet shop while waiting for uni... dropped at her place in serangoon and took a cab from there home... on the way, shahin msged me that he was missing the times we had as a class... that prompted me to start thinking of the good old days too... damn i miss them too...

sheesh... the nostalgia just flows in and it is sometimes overwhelming... ok... i need my sleep... so good night and leave a mark...

Eastside is the BEST!

Eastside is the BEST!

alright... my wish has been granted finally aftr 1 week of waiting... i've been posted to changi naval base which is much neared to my place than tuas... yeah... no need to wake up so early in the morning anymore... yippie!!!

so today was my first day there... met up with a couple of my friends before taking the shuttle bus to the camp... had my i/c exchanged for a pass and proceeded... we noticed a queue near the guardroom but couldnt be bothered about it... "The MT line must be somewhere near", i said... so we took a walk to find the elusive block 301 which houses the Motorised Transport Company Line... after walking for nearly 10 mins without seeing a single building, we finally resigned to the fact that we were somewhat lost... and i regretted not joining the queue... damn... this place is HUGE!!! the wharf is so big that walking from one end to the other takes about 20 mins... by some luck, we managed to encounter and speak to a LTC (2 crab) and asked him for directions... "...not too far away...", he said much to our relief... and he was right... so after 20 mins of non-stop walking, past the parade square and a dummy torpedo, past the canteen and a moored LST, we finally reached the MT line... but only to find it empty... it was only 8!!! and work doesnt begin till 0830... damn... so it was a short walk to the canteen for us where we spent 20 mins just sitting around...

by 0830 we were back... did a bit of admin stuff and then had interview with the person in charge, SSG Kho... after that it was slacking all the way till 330 when we were instructed on how to check various vehicles before going for any detail... so by 4 we were done and it was time to start area cleaning... i was the sway one who kena the toilet... luckily the guy who showed me the ropes did a good job of teaching me what to do and by the time we were done with the place, it looked brand new... at 5, we had our last parade and fell out... then i took the internal bus that the ppl were queueing for and headed to the gate... there, i changed my pass and boarded the shuttle bus back to tanah merah station... by the time i got home, it was 630, a difference of 30 mins worth of travelling as compared to when i was at tuas... coolz sia...

well, i think my life in changi's going to be a good one... The Navy... Be Somebody...

all the old hardware is failing... my printer aint working... and now i only have 2 usb ports to use... major bummer... damn...

arghh... crap... i think it's the usb hub that's screwed up... but never fear... my comp has 6 ports... and i have 6 devices... so i'm praying for the best...

crap... no mood to blog much more... ok... leave a mark...

bleah... i'll never be able to get my licence after i ORD... just found out what my job was as an STO...

yesterday all of us were very curious as to what vocation an 'STO' was... but all was answered today when i booked in at tuas naval base... upon arrival, i made my way to NMTB, another of yesterday's mysteries... well, i found out that it stood for the naval material & transport base... yes, you heard right... I'M GOING OVER TO THE NAVY!!! goodbye no. 4 uniform... and hello navy whites!!! so we met the chief clerk and she introed us to the new system... we found out that we were actually Sea Transport Operators... in other words, we were the loading team for ships leaving the base... but we will be operating cranes and forklifts... hence NO MORE HOPE FOR MY CLASS 3 LICENCE!!! damn... really was loooking forward to it... sheesh... in the afternoon, we went for some dialogue session which ended up more like a monologue thingy cos nobody wanted to say anything... booked out at 515 and got home at 7... and my monthly tpt fee is gonna skyrocket to $150 per month if i continue to stay there... but there's hope cos the clerk said that some of us, probably the east-siders, will be transferred to changi... hope that happens...

ok... nuff of the small talk... i'm going to bed... leave a mark!!!

Camp was fun fun fun! ! ! Siriusly......

Camp was fun fun fun! ! ! Siriusly......

yo peepz... i'm finally back from church camp in seremban... here's how it went...

Wed was day one... so i went down to church at 745 to catch the coach up to the resort... the ride up was spent with many of the lighthouse kids like julian, thers, zara, char, bern, shaun, gabriel and matthias... it was a 4 hr long journey so we spent the time playing cards telling lame jokes and singing at the back of the bus... let's hope the ppl in front didnt get pissed at us :P... we reached yong peng at around 10 for the standard stop for a leak... and that's what i did... by 1030, we were once again off for a 2 hr nonstop trip to the allson klana resort in seremban... got there at lunchtime and had lunch at the resort's lobby... then had a briefing and camp officially was declared open... we were divided into teams and mine was called Sirius, named after the brightest star visible in the night sky... Siriusly... then the activities began... first up, ice-breakers to get ourselves introed to the unfamiliar faces ie the BB boys and P6s... played wacko and captains ball... fun siaz... then we had dinner followed by worship and then a talk by moses lim... he's a great speaker that can turn practically any crowd on with his wit and great sense of humour... then there was discussion... we were finally released at 10 but only slept at 1 cos we were just too energetic and went round to other ppl's room in search of dai dee and bridge games...

Thu morning was the start of a brand new day... got up at 645 and went for QT at 715 near the poolside... that lasted till 8 when we went for breakfast which was the usual hotel buffet style... worship followed at 915 and by 10, we had gathered at the field and waited for the commencement of the team-building games... it started with rapelling, then some spiderweb thingy, then an obstacle course... at 12, we had lunch and by 130 we were back at the field and waited for part 2... that started with a flying fox followed by a low ropes course and then a jungle walk... the activities were just great... but the best was definately the flying fox... from 5 storeys high, riding a cable almost 100m to the ground... foof!!! the adrenelin was really pumping... and now we know that pigs CAN fly... cos bern actually rode the thingy!!! it was like a super charged roller coaster with less "protection"... coolz siaz... after all that, we were sticky all over so most of us went swimming... *splash*... the water felt soooo gooooood cos the weather that day was kinda killer... swam till it was nearly too late for dinner then went for worship and talk... that night, we all knocked off early cos we were all dead tired...

Before we knew it, it was already friday, the mid of camp... it started as usual with QT and breakfast and then had worship and talk... all this till lunch... then at 130 went to go help set up the things for the family games that afternoon... we cleared everything by 230 and then went for a short nap till 330 when the ggames started... i was the ammo boy in charge of the live ammo the participants used during the games, water baloons... heh... just looking at the people who played, i could just tell that the games were just soooo fun... so mission accomplished for the organisers... then there was water war using buckets, excess ballons and the hose... boy did we just get everyone soaked!!! so dripping wet, most of us headed for the pool for a refereshing dip and some water polo... kowz... we nearly missed dinner again luckily auntie ross extended time for us... so there was a talk again that evening and we konked off early once again due to exhaustion....

Sat was a day packed with free time and boy did we enjoy it... after lunch, had skit practice for a while and then we hit the pool once again... we played polo again... super fun man... too bad can only play during camp... :P ... at 430, some of us left to play bball and soccer with the BB guys... i stayed and suntanned with jane, daniel and ben... now i look darker than usual but this tan will be temporary... again, we were late for dinner... then it was time for the concert in which the different groups of the church pu up a series of tiny skits and were competing against each other... wew didnt win but hey, we gave our best shot... after the concert, there was a durian party held at the tennis courts... over 200 durians were consumed by the 150+ campers within an hour... should do this more often... then we adjourned to our rooms... after a quick shower all of us started moving to julian's and jason's rooms for a night of PS2 and Euro 2004... at one time, there were over 15 ppl squeezed into the tiny room... and once again , the sweet scent of our sandals and shoes filled the 2 adjoining rooms... luckily jason had them moved to the toilet before someone passed out... so there we were playing daidee, bridge, worms 3d, taboo and some bash bash game... most didnt last past 230... i lasted till 3 when i finally moved back to my room and knocked out almost instantly...

Today i woke early once again and went for QT and breakfast... then there was service and after a short debriefing, we headed back to our rooms and got ready to check out... at 12, there was lunch and buy 130, we had all boarded the coach and started for home... we went back to church 1st to drop off supplies and by 8, sean and i were already home... ok... i NEED my rest now... so till the next church camp, LEAVE A MARK!!!

My 2 Days Worth...

My 2 Days Worth...

ok... didnt blog yesterday cos i came back rather late and dead tired... so here's for yesterday and today...

Sunday...
my dad had borrowed the car from my aunt over the weekend so he drove and sent my brother to outram and my mum to work before letting me take over and drive to church... it was quite a change from driving the army vehicles but at least it was an experience... so i got to church just in time for band prac and worship commenced on time at 11... there was BS after that and that followed by lunch at sim lim square... then, a group of us went to play MOHAA at the $1 place... coincidentally, sunday marked the 60th anniversary of the allied invasion of france... watch out omaha beach!... finished at 4 and went home... then, i showered and changed and got ready to leave the house once again, this time for dinner... my dad drove and picked up my mum from harbourfront then we went to the newly renovated east coast lagoon for dinner... the food there was, like always, superb!... by the time we left, it was already 10 cos we just kept ordering and ordering... sheesh...

Monday...
once again, another slack day in camp... did absolutely nothing until near book out time when they asked for ppl to go help take down and transport exhibits from the supply and tpt exhibition in which the chief of army was the guest... ok... time to go slp already... leave a mark will ya?

Slacking? Who's slacking?

Slacking? Who's slacking?

okies... updating time... went to work early this morning and reported on time... today, was transferred from the driver training side back over to STTS so i joined plt 6, the platoon which is a holding place for drivers that just passed their driving test... so i reported there today... cant imagine how slack it is until i got there... my day started with an hour long canteen break... so at 930, got back to the place which we were supposed to touch up for area cleaning... but by the time i got there, the area was pretty much clean so we ajourned to the air-conditioned classroom to wait the rest of the day out... so began my 2 hour wait... i spent it sleeping on the floor cos nobody came to check... at 1115, we looked for our ic who gave us a half day off cos we're new and the platoon has this welfare benefits thingy for new ppl... by 1200, i left camp and headed home, and will only report to work on monday cos the ic once again gave welfare and ordered a long weekend... slack or what? then came home and went out again for lunch with my parents... had starbucks after the meal and hung around compasspoint for abt an hour... then we went home and i slept the rest of the afternoon away cos i was just so tired... went for band prac later that evening at 8... so it finished at 915 and now i'm back home waiting for my parents to come home with supper... what a slack-ish day man... how was yours? leave a mark!

Return to Ngee Ann...

Return to Ngee Ann...

fwahz... today was one great day spent... had basketball with the PLH ppl once again at Ngee Ann Poly... played from 9 till 1... then we finally dragged our nearly limp bodies to mcdonalds for lunch... we hung around there for 1 1/2 hours before trying to decide what to do after leaving... the consensus was clear: just go home for a refreshing shower and a good rest... well, at least that was what i did... so i got home at 4 and i've been slacking in front of the computer and tv ever since... okiez... gtg slp liaoz... leave a mark!

June already?

June already?

fwahz... time really flies... 5 mths passed in 2004 in just a blink of an eye... quite amazing... esp since army life is just slow and mundane...

sorry didnt post last night... but i have my defence...read on to find out... ok... yesterday was my cross-country driving exercise... so from camp, we were driven to a forested area near the zoo for our training... the place was just swarming with mosquitoes and the only things that spoilt the all-so natural feel were us and the 3 radio antennas jutting out from bt timah hill which could be seen frm there... anyway, we were introduced to the basic operation tasks that are supposed to be carried out during any outfield deployment like camouflaging the vehicle, driving through knee-high water and bumping along tracks that are just littered with potholes... my instructor kept complaining at the end of the day that his butt just couldn't take any more of the punishment dealt by the bumping caused by the potholes... we finished promptly at 5 and headed back to camp... if u thought that was the end of the day, you're wrong... that night, we had training using the night vision goggles, made popular during the first gulf war... recall those green and blury images of bullets flying over kuwait shown on the news during early 1991... well, that's what we saw too... minus the bullets that is... focusing the darned things was itself a chore... and putting them on without them slipping off was just about impossible... so i let them hang and drove in "complete" darkness without them through the jungle track... it was really dark but i could manage without those cumbersome things... so yeah, i got home at 10 and was so tired that i went so sleep immdieately after showering...

today was another day which tested my driving skill and HWC profiency... i had islandwide driving today, taking first, a 5 tonner, and then a rover from sembawang camp all the way to changi naval base... and being a class 4 permit holder, i was authorised to drive on the expressway, the BKE, SLE and TPE to be exact... oh well, the journeys both lasted about 100 mins and took me 55km each closer to my 7,000km and free class 3 licence... on the way, i met up with some pretty heavy traffic in the morning but i managed to get past it and reached without a scratch... my buddy took the tonner back with me in the passenger seat and after lunch, i took the rover there and he took it back... quite cool driving without an instructor, without authority... the feeling was just great... i bet you'll get it too when u pass... got back to SBC early and had an early dismissal... so after a fast trip to compasspoint, i finally reached home... oh wellz, i had a great day, how bout u? tell me abt it... leave a mark!
